Driver / Logistician at Plan international

Job Title: Driver/Logistician



Location: Abuja
Department: Administration
Reports to: Country Admin and Logistics Advisor
Duration: 2 Years

Purpose

  • The position creates a positive first and last impression for the practice and is pivotal to the organization running smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities
Driving:

  • Drive staff or any other person or material/equipment as directed by the Advisor
  • Report all signs of improper functioning and damage of vehicle assigned to the Advisor
  • Adhere to the maintenance schedule of the vehicle
  • Ensure that fuel and maintenance costs are duly recorded in the vehicle maintenance logbook
  • Ensure that all vehicle movements are recorded in the corresponding logbook (destination, distance, purpose)
  • Ensure that the cars always cleaned
  • Inform the Advisor at least 3 months before the expiry date of the administrative documents of the cars insurance/ road worthiness certificate etc)
  • Dispatch the local mail to addressee
  • Make bank deposit of cash or cheque on promptly basis

Logistics and General Administration

  • Assist in sourcing for quotations towards the procurement of goods and materials for program delivery as per corporate procedures to ensure value for money is obtainable.
  • Dispatch of goods and materials to various projects offices to facilitate program delivery without any reports of loss or destruction of items
  • Maintain a tracker of all staff and visiting staff movements and pick up and drop off
  • Keep and maintain a daily procurement tracker of all procurement at hand and their stages
  • Facilitate the procurement of visa and other travel documents to facilitate travel  by staff without any incidents
  • Facilitate the renewal of resident and work permit for expatriate staff to enable them settle properly and perform their duties effectively.
  • Arrange for the repair and maintenance of office vehicles and machinery to ensure that staff work effectively without any disruptions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum OND in Commerce, Engineering, Logistic or related field
  • Demonstrate wide knowledge of the road network in FCT and all states of the federation
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of procurement processes
  • Confirmed and demonstrated successful experience in a similar role
  • Good knowledge of grammar, composition, spelling and punctuation
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship with both internal and external clients
  • Proficiency with PC's and computer programs including Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to speak more than one language, English, Hausa and others

  • Good analytical abilities
  • Good time management skills.

Physical Environment and Demands:

  • The incumbent will work in a normal work environment and Will move outside the office. Also be willing to work late and on non-working days.
