Job Overview


  • Devatop Centre for Africa Development is seeking a passionate and experienced individual for the position of Deputy Executive Director.
  • The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Director in organizational leadership and management, with a specific focus on strategic plan implementation, operational oversight,  team leadership, resource mobilization, and grant writing.
  • This position presents a unique opportunity for a dynamic leader to contribute to the growth and impact of our organization in the field of human rights.
  • The Deputy Executive Director will support the Executive Director in maintaining the organization’s stability and fostering an environment that encourages growth and innovation while upholding the mission and values at the core of the organization’s work.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Executive Director and senior management team to develop and implement strategic initiatives aligning with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Lead resource mobilization efforts by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, cultivating relationships with donors, and developing grant proposals. Overseeing the grant application process, ensuring the timely submission of high-quality proposals and reports.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing policies and procedures to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Oversee the organization’s daily operations and support in supervising various heads of departments and units to ensure that deliverables are met.
  • Support the Executive Director to ensure the effective implementation of the organizational Strategic Plan, Resource Mobilization Plan, and Growth Plan & Targets.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team, especially for effective operations and development in the organization
  • Represent the organization in external meetings, conferences, and partnerships related to resource mobilization.
  • Oversees compliance with various organizational policies and procedures.
  • Carry out any other duties that the Executive Director may delegate from time to time.

Qualifications

  • The candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Human Rights, Social Sciences, Humanities, Business Management or Public Administration, or a related discipline from a recognized University,
  • At least 7 years of work experience, including in a senior leadership role;
  • Experience resource mobilization, grant writing, and grant management.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate a team
  • Experience in the basics of accounting and financial management, auditing regulations, and fulfilling project targets.
  • Conversant with human resource management in small and medium-sized organizations.
  • Experience in conducting human rights advocacy campaigns
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Professional and pleasant demeanor to meet with stakeholders.
  • Sharp attention to detail with an extraordinary ability to multitask.
  • A reliable and diligent worker.
