Job Position: Fleet Mechanic

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description


  • The Fleet Mechanic perform preventive maintenance, identify and repair faults on the mechanical systems including diesel engine, transmission and drives, hydraulic and brakes, tires and body of the service vehicles.

Responsibilities
Administration:

  • Advise management on requirements to support operations in line with business objectives
  • Perform shift duties in a flexible manner to ensure work requirements are met.
  • Complete job sheets as required

Vendor Management:

  • Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; complete preventative maintenance, carry out troubleshooting and repair works on all mechanical systems.
  • Assist the fleet maintenance manager in implementing or completing the maintenance services, modification or overhaul work plans and schedules in accordance with the operation and maintenance procedures, work safety guidelines and service checklists.
  • Manage vendors and contractors engaged by the facilities department to ensure effective service delivery and smooth operations; monitor performance to ensure delivery in line with agreements
  • Maintain vehicle functions and conditions by listening to operator complaints; conduct inspections and tests; repair mechanical faults and damaged vehicle body; replace parts and components.
  • Check and tune the diesel/petrol engine with optimum firing and combustion performance, change lubrication oil/filter & air filter, conduct wheel alignment and balancing, repair tires and vehicle body.
  • Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives or any other statutory functional tests to ensure the vehicles are complying with local rules & regulations and safety & licensing requirements.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Vehicle Maintenance Reporting:

  • Ensure all safety matters are reported up the chain to management
  • Report any known driver tampering with equipment or theft.

Education/ Professional Qualifications

  • OND in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering or a related discipline
  • SSCE / Trade Test and at least 5 years work experience in related field

Experience:

  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years work experience in automotive and vehicle maintenance, repair and rebuilding operations
  • Sound knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities.
