Job Position: Legal / HR Associate

Job Location: Ogudu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • This role is responsible for providing HR, administrative and legal support to ensure the efficient operation of the HR, legal and administrative functions of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate various MOUs, Contracts, non disclosures and tender documents.
  • Handle statutory filings, and regulatory submissions and liaise with the Accounts department on tax compliance requirements.
  • Employee Relations: Provide Human Resources (HR) Policy guidance and interpretation, provide guidance through In-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Policies Developments and Implementation: Frame policies in different fields (e.g., Human & Employees Right, Corporate Social Responsibility, Code of Conduct and Ethics, etc.) review with management for approval and enforce its implementation and compliance.
  • HR Administration: Tracking and monitoring of all statutory requirements, Tax and pension remittance, ITF, HMO Scheme, liaise with appropriate agencies and bodies to ensure smooth relationship between the company, the communities, and the Government.
  • Handle matters such as patents, copyright, trademark law, licensing, distribution, and trade secret projects.
  • Stay abreast with changes to legislation (laws & regulations) that directly affect our businesses and specific industry, interpret, evaluate their impact.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate legal risks by presenting clear recommendations and developing and implementing company policies and procedures.
  • Providing legal advice and guidance on a wide array of matters including privacy, medical staff issues, HR policies, procedures, and compliance.
  • Oversee internal investigations related to HR issues and manage and resolve employment issues and disputes.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement HR-related legal strategies and initiatives.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare, proofread, and edit legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Assist in legal research and analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Organize and maintain legal files, contracts, and confidential information.
  • Handling workplace investigations, disciplinary and termination procedures.
  • Maintaining employee and workplace privacy.
  • Other Duties: Carrying out assigned duties for the company and sister companies as required.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Legal Officer/Assistant
  • 2 to 5 years of work Experience
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and processes
  • Legal Secretary certification is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.)
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience in managing employment litigation.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
