Job Position: Flight Operator

Job Location: Ogoja, Cross River
Employment Type: Full-time

About You and The Role

  • As a member of Zipline’s Flight Operations team in Cross River State, Nigeria, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the delivery of medical products to health facilities is done in a safe and timely manner.
  • This will involve working with a team of flight operators to conduct regular pre-flight inspections, launching, and recovery of the drones (aircraft). You’ll be trained to conduct regular maintenance of the drones and other equipment at our site to support ongoing operations.
  • You will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of our daily operations and processes to support the growth of our operations as we scale.

What You'll Do

  • Launch and Recovery: You will be responsible for the safe assembly of drones in preparation for 150+ flights, perform critical checks, communicate with Zipline controllers in readiness for flight, launch and disassemble drones on return to the Distribution Center.
  • Maintenance of drones and ground equipment: You will be responsible for performing corrective and preventive maintenance: scheduled or unscheduled on Zipline’s Aircraft and Ground Equipment. The maintenance includes but is not limited to Aircraft body maintenance, aircraft wing maintenance, etc.
  • Troubleshooting: You will be required to follow troubleshooting guidelines for the drones and ground equipment and collaborate with locally-based and USA based engineering teams to troubleshoot and optimize issues. 
  • Projects: You may be involved in short-term and long-term projects that involve collaboration across functional teams in efforts to scale drone deliveries to 150+ and improve operational efficiency.

What You'll Bring

  • National Diploma or HND / Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Aerospace Engineering
  • You enjoy working in the field and are not afraid to get your hands dirty
  • Ability to stay focused, humble, and safety-conscious during 12 hour shifts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and enjoy work that keeps you on your feet
  • Ability to maintain focus during extended daily flight operations
  • Comfortable troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues with complex, battery-operated machinery
  • Extremely process & detail-oriented
  • Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Must be eligible to work in Nigeria

What Else You Need To Know:  

  • Must be willing and able to work night/weekends on shifts
  • Must be willing and able to work for a period not more than 45 hours/week
  • This is a full-time position based in Obudu and will require relocation to Obudu
  • Must be willing to relocate to any of our distribution centers in Cross River State, Nigeria

Job Position: Regional Financial Controller, Africa

Job Location: Abuja

About You and The Role

  • This role reports to the HQ Financial Controller and has the option to be based in West Africa.
  • Accounting at Zipline is responsible for building a world-class global financial system that enables our mission.
  • We have operations in Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria today and are growing rapidly across the continent.
  • You will help develop efficient and scalable processes to ensure the business has accurate, timely, and compliant financials.
  • Above all, your work supports the company to achieve unit economics and ensures we have a sustainable and affordable solution for Africa.
  • This role can be based in Nigeria or Ghana.

What You'll Do

  • Own all day-to-day accounting operations including: billing, cash collection, vendor payment, bank and credit card reconciliation, cash reconciliation, mobile money reconciliation, review of employee expense reimbursement and more. 
  • Coordination and preparation of financial statements, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Statement of cash flows
  • Own month end closing for their respective countries and establish key processes to ensure financials accurately reflect business activity 
  • Partner regularly with various teams, including General Manager, Country Leadership, and Global Finance Team, to support data driven decision-making
  • Support in the design and implementation of controls, processes, and policies
  • Support in tax, audit, and other compliance activities 
  • Assist in other ad-hoc project as needed

What You'll Bring

  • Accounting Degree and is ACA qualified (ACCA is a plus) with a preference of 8+ years of experience navigating multinational financial systems and processes (bonus if you have past experience with Netsuite)
  • Strong internal and external customer service instincts
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellence working in a rapidly changing environment with stakeholders in various time zones and departments

  • Partner closely with the Zipline Nigeria team and the Nigerian government to support the day to day of Zipline’s various regulatory requirements and programs in Nigeria.
  • Work with the global regulatory and policy teams to define the best plan to execute timely and successful certification.
  • Support organizational regulatory approval efforts by coordinating activities of the team, monitoring progress and removing obstacles along the way.
  • Maintain regulatory files/databases in good order, along with the system for tracking communication with regulators. 
  • Interface with other functional departments to influence efficient execution of projects; provide regulatory support on project teams.

What You'll Bring 

  • You’ll have at least 5 years' experience in working within the regulatory and government affairs space
  • You can communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) and build strong relationships with internal business teams and external stakeholders.
  • You’ll have experience reviewing processes and documentation to ensure that the systems they depict will be compliant with applicable regulations.
  • You have the grit, resourcefulness, and resilience to thrive in novel, uncertain and constantly-changing business and regulatory environments.
