Account Officer / Inventory Officer

Position Summary
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Account Officer / Inventory Officer to oversee financial operations and inventory management. This dual role requires a candidate with strong accounting skills as well as the ability to maintain accurate inventory control, ensuring effective stock management, quality assurance, and timely replenishment across our supermarket branches.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Accounting Duties:

  • Manage accounts receivable and branch impress accounts.

  • Handle daily financial transactions, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.


  • Process supplier invoices, track creditor balances, and ensure timely payments.

  • Oversee petty cash, reconcile POS settlements, and support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control measures.

  • Liaise with suppliers and external auditors.

  • Maintain a proper chart of accounts and accurate classification of entries.

Inventory & Stock Management Duties:

  • Perform daily stock balance checks and reconcile with system records.

  • Monitor expiry dates, shelf stock levels, and ensure timely restocking.

  • Cross-check sales reports against physical counts, investigating discrepancies.

  • Conduct price checks and update monthly pricing records.

  • Prepare purchase requisitions and ensure timely procurement to avoid stock-outs.

  • Ensure accurate entry of purchased items into inventory systems and communicate updates to staff.

  • Maintain quality assurance standards, including product evaluation and policy compliance.

  • Oversee stock flow and develop safeguards against loss or damage.

  • Generate and share daily inventory and sales reports.

  • Enforce discipline and adherence to company policies among staff.

  • HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field.

  • 2–5 years of combined experience in accounting and inventory management, ideally in retail or supermarket operations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, retail accounting, and inventory management systems.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
