Job Position: Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW)

Job Location: Benin, Edo

Job Summary


  • The Community Health Worker works under the supervision of the nursing officer to deliver high quality care to patients.
  • The job holder assists nursing officers in assessing patient's condition.

Employee’s Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Medical:

  • Check and record patient's vital signs such Weight, Height, blood pressure, temperature and respiration rate.
  • Assist to improve patient adherence to treatment regimens.
  • Assist the Nursing officer in providing basic medical and preventive care.
  • Assist in providing care for patients requiring nutrition, mental health, and prenatal care.
  • To maintain highest standard of health education of client.
  • Efficient in educating babies and adults.
  • Ensure compliance to clinical governance in ANC and Immunization.
  • Efficient in chaperon of patients to various consulting rooms.
  • Record patient information in computerized logs
  • Ensure all activities carried out in ANC/Immunization are documented.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to you by senior leadership.

Maintenance:

  • Regular equipment checks and call for maintenance.

Health and Safety:

  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in compliance with Lily hospitals' health and safety policy and statutory regulations.
  • Ensure a clean, comfortable and safe environment for patients, clients and members of staff to help reduce infection

Requirements

  • Certificate of training as a community health worker (CHEW)
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Valid practice license from the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria
  • Fluent in any local language and proficient in written and spoken English
