Bature Brewery - Having built the Nigeria's first ever microbrewery in 2017 - equipped and established in the nation’s capital, Abuja - we have continually grown and now operate our ever expanding brewhouse from our facility in the heart of Victoria Island. Our brewery and taproom is the shrine behind the craft beer community in Lagos, with good times that flow as readily as the delicious cold beer from our draft taps.

Job Position: Head of Operations

Job Location: Lagos

Position Summary


  • The Head of Operations will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations and maintenance of facilities, such as a commercial building, industrial plant and infrastructures.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure that the facility is well-maintained and in compliance with safety and health regulations. This includes managing repairs, renovations, and maintenance work.
  • Develop and manage budgets for facility operations, which may include expenses related to maintenance, utilities, staffing, and equipment.
  • Optimize the use of space within the facility to accommodate current and future needs. This might involve office layout, storage, and utilization of available space.
  • Work with external service providers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that the facility receives necessary services and materials.
  • Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability practices to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
  • Ensure that the facility complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain records and documentation related to maintenance, repairs, inspections, and other facility activities.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management regarding the facility's performance, expenditures, and any issues that need attention.
  • Address and resolve operational issues, such as equipment failures or unexpected maintenance needs.
  • Oversee a team of employees, including maintenance personnel, janitors, security staff, and other support staff. This involves hiring, training, and scheduling employees.
  • Implement security and safety protocols to protect the facility and its occupants. This includes emergency response plans, fire safety, and surveillance systems.
  • Develop and implement long-term facility management plans, including capital improvements and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Collaborate with other departments or tenants in the facility to address their needs and concerns.
  • Oversee the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget, to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Lead and manage a team of employees, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure the team's productivity and effectiveness.
  • Developing and implementing operational strategies that align with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
  • Analyze existing operational processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement, efficiency gains, and cost reductions. They may also implement process optimization initiatives.
  • Ensuring that products or services meet quality standards and implementing quality control processes to minimize defects and errors.
  • Responsible for managing the supply chain, including procurement, inventory control, and logistics.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Brewing, Engineering, Operations Management), or equivalent experience.
  • Several years of experience in brewery operations, including a strong understanding of the brewing process.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, quality control, and compliance in the brewing industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Understanding of budgeting and cost control.
  • Passion for the craft brewing industry and a commitment to producing high-quality beer.
