Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF) is a regional non- Governmental Organisation, established in April 2003 and registered in July 2006 with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja, Nigeria. AYGF has an operational base in British Columbia Canada, Texas USA, and Nigeria (Kogi state, Niger State, Ogun State, Katsina State, and the FCT-Abuja). Over the years the Organisation has implemented several projects that addressed issues around
migration, Public Health, Education, Democratic Governance, livelihood, Climate Change and Environment.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Human Resources / Admin Officer

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time


Job Duties and Responsibilities
Human Resources:

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Administration - Operations:
The HR/Administrative Officer is to ensure the implementation of operational strategies including:

  • Full compliance of administrative activities with AYGF regulations, policies, and strategies.
  • Support to the AYGF National and state offices'administrative processes;
  • Implementation of cost-saving and reduction strategies in consultations with office management.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and organize professional development opportunities.
  • Support staff in their career growth and skills enhancement.

Recordkeeping and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files and attendance records.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.

Office Coordination:

  • The HR/Administrative Officer will ensure effective and efficient provision of project coordination activities which include:
  • Coordination of logistics including booking of flight and hotel reservations, making arrangements for transportation, review of travel authorizations, documentation, and payments.
  • Coordination and supervision of support staff (driver, office assistant);
  • Presentation of thoroughly researched information for planning financial resources for administrative services.

Job Requirements
The Person should have;

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of Nine (9) years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in an NGO environment is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Excellent skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
