Job Position: Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Description

  • We are seeking dynamic individual for this exciting opportunity to work alongside the clinical director and other medical staffs to provide safe and quality medical management of our patients.
  • Also, to provide support to the lead consultants for both private and those insured - elective/emergency surgical or medical care, medical diagnoses and treatments. We are specialist reputable provider of women's health care.
  • You will be part of a team and will be expected to take part in the daily care of in-patients, day-patients or outpatients and to deal with any emergencies that may arise in a hospital setting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting protocols to ensure
  • Proper functioning of instruments, reagents and procedures.
  • Implementation of policies and tasks specified by the Head of Medical Laboratory Department
  • Maintaining laboratory safety at all times by following safe handling and quality control processes and wearing proper protective wears.
  • Maintaining a sterile laboratory environment to avoid any cross contamination of specimens on samples
  • Maintaining laboratory logs to track samples and specimens
  • Process blood samples and specimens utilizing protocols and technical knowledge
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is functioning at peak levels
  • Take inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure adequate stock levels for essential commodities
  • Ensure the quality and testing of blood for transfusion and cross-matching blood for transfusion.
  • Daily checking of key laboratory indicators including calibration process of laboratory equipment’s and machines.
  • Accounting for reagent used and restock.
  • To monitor consumable stocks and assist in ordering supplies as required.
  • Uploading of patient laboratory result on our electronic medical records (EMR) Helium.

Health:

  • Validate and communicate test results to doctors
  • Liaise with outside laboratory for samples and result
  • Preparing of daily report of all Laboratory investigation in the hospital
  • Ensure that all laboratory test result is reviewed by the Doctors
  • To communicate with other laboratory staff, staff within the service, patients and other users of the Pathology service.
  • Send text messages to patients when their results are available for review and consultation by the doctors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Degree (BMLS).
  • Must be registered with the medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
  • Must have a practicing Licence.
  • Minimum of 2+ years working experience in similar role.
  • Must have effective Laboratory Quality Management System Skills.
  • Effective Laboratory data Management and research skills.
  • Must be accountable for the quality and integrity of laboratory Services.
  • Must be a team player.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years post registration experience in the relevant discipline.
  • You will be expected to cover a wide range of specialist areas in women’s services.
