Phlebotomist

Job Summary

Draws blood samples for laboratory investigation from hospitalized and ambulatory patients and delivers specimens collected to appropriate laboratory section.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize hospital software (EMR) to identify patient basic information. • Determine the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health etc
• Label sample collection bottles with appropiate patient information  Draw blood sample from patient via venupucture or skin punture
• Send samples to the laboratory for testing.
• Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples
• Follow strict safety procedures.

Minimum Requirement

• Bachelors or Higher National Diploma in Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Technology
• At least 3 years of proven experience as a Phlebotomist or Phlebotomy Technician
• Experience with effective puncture techniques
• Understanding of proper patient identification methods
• Knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples, and use of relevant medical equipment and material
• Ability to use computers for enter data entry
