Job Position: Python Backend Engineer

Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly skilled Python Backend Engineer with 4–5 years of professional experience to join our engineering team.
• The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in building scalable backend systems using FastAPI and PostgreSQL, with a solid understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture.
• You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services for our core banking platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using FastAPI and Python.
• Implement and manage PostgreSQL databases with efficient schema design and query optimisation.
• Develop and integrate microservices for different core banking modules such as Accounts, Transactions, Loans, Cards, and Payments.
• Build and maintain event-driven systems using message brokers such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Implement secure authentication, authorisation, and data protection mechanisms.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment pipelines.
• Ensure scalability, performance, and fault tolerance of backend systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4–5 years of professional backend development experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI (preferred) or Flask/Django.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL database design, optimisation, and migrations.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerisation/orchestration tools.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
• Experience in building RESTful APIs and working with JSON and authentication standards (JWT, OAuth2).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in financial services, fintech, or core banking systems.
• Knowledge of domain-driven design (DDD) principles.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Understanding of CQRS and event sourcing patterns.
