Job Position: QHSE Officer

Job Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • To ensure consistent implementation of QHSE standards across all assigned stations through inspections, training, coaching, risk assessments, and performance monitoring, in line with regulatory, internal requirements and international standards.

Job Responsibilities


  • Conduct quarterly inspections of 100% of assigned stations using approved checklists (e.g., Microsoft Forms).
  • Maintain and update risk assessments and regulatory compliance registers for all assigned stations. Provide quarterly updates to the QHSE Manager.
  • Review and rate Station Managers’ QHSE KPIs during visits. Ensure a minimum score of 80% per station.
  • Track and support closure of corrective actions from internal and external audits. Ensure at least 90% closure within set timelines.
  • Share monthly QHSE performance updates (e.g., IMS audit scores) for all assigned stations.
  • Conduct at least one mock drill per quarter at each station. Raise staff awareness and readiness for emergencies.
  • Provide on-the-spot coaching to Station Managers and station staff during visits. Deliver at least one training session per Station Manager monthly.
  • Submit all inspection and performance reports within 48 hours of visit. Maintain 100% report submission compliance.
  • Oversee contractor safety management at all retail stations undergoing renovation.
  • Represent the department on IMS audit activities.
  • Coordinate IMS documentation, implementation & audit-related activities in all assigned stations.
  • Provide adequate assistance to external auditors in compliance reviews.
  • Participate in all internal audits, report writing, and presentations at the monthly meetings
  • Participate in all other cross-functional assigned duties and engagements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Sciences or in an HSE-related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in similar roles
  • International and Local certifications as well as HSE Related training
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and industry standards
  • Effective communication and coaching skills Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills
  • Good knowledge of Integrated Management Systems (IMS)
  • Ability to travel and manage multi-site responsibilities
  • Contractor safety Management.
