Job Position: Quality and Food Safety Officer
Job Location: Lagos

Position Overview

  • We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality and Food Safety Officer with a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience and certification in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with quality and food safety standards, implementing effective quality control processes, and maintaining a safe and hygienic environment in our facility located in Lagos.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes, facilities, and equipment to identify potential quality and food safety issues.
  • Perform risk assessments and hazard analysis to identify critical control points and preventive measures in the production and handling of food products.
  • Monitor and analyze quality and food safety data, including product testing results, to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential risks.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality records, ensuring their accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate and monitor all activities related to the implementation and maintenance of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on quality control processes, food safety practices, and HACCP requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and address customer complaints or non-conformities, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits by regulatory agencies and customers, addressing any findings and implementing necessary corrective actions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in quality control and food safety, and proactively implement necessary updates or improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or a related field. Additional certifications in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in quality control and food safety, preferably in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
  • Certified in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and educate employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Solid understanding of food safety regulations, quality control principles, and industry best practices.
  • Experience in conducting internal audits, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards, such as ISO 9001 and GMP.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software related to quality control and data analysis.
