Job Position: Information Management & Knowledge Manager

Job Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Band: C2 National
Duration: Three (3) months contract with possibility of extension
Department: Humanitarian

Job Purpose

  • To improve the quality of programme learning through the use of creative products, accessible processes, and effective systems. Ensure learning is not lost and is used to adapt programmes

Key Responsibilities
Information and Knowledge Management:

  • Present, develop, and implement the strategic plan for humanitarian information management within the NE Nigeria Humanitarian Response
  • Collect information and testimonies from beneficiaries, staff, and partners and put them together with programme narrative to create a suite of materials that supports a variety of purposes (e.g. comms, funding, MAC)
  • Develop and facilitate processes and tools that will aid knowledge retention and sharing, as well as improve collaboration within and between teams
  • Develop goals and objectives for technology and information activities for the response based on organizational need
  • Set up and maintain processes for capturing realistic beneficiary numbers against the commitments outlined in the donor indicators
  • Coordinate the monthly collation and dissemination programme achievements to external stakeholders like the sectors working group, INGO forum etc

Coordination and Management Support:

  • Provide advice and counsel concerning IM issues and industry trends to the Humanitarian Programme Manager
  • Work with all technical and support teams, being a focal point for advice and practical support regarding information management

Information Systems:

  • Research, develop, and implement new services that can improve efficiency of the response through the use of information systems

Communication/Visibility:

  • Creating regular sit reps based on the work in each of the Programme Sites in NE Nigeria
  • Develop and ensure programme visibility is included in proposal development
  • Manage branding and visibility products including sign off, and ensure project/programme visibility products consistency, quality and availability
  • Manage the development of quarterly snapshot for the humanitarian response

Capacity Building:

  • Train staff to use information management tools
  • Facilitate staff's ability to use existing and emerging processes and technologies to achieve organization's objectives with regards to IM
  • Train and support field staff in collecting case studies, success stories that can be used for reporting and visibility purposes

Basic Job Requirements
Essential:

  • Degree in Data Management, Information Technology, Statistics, or any other relevant field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years humanitarian experience
  • Experience in data collection/ entry software (Survey CTO, Mobenzi, Kobo, Excel, Access,).
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Excellent influencing and confident networking skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential
  • Sympathy with the aims and objectives of Oxfam.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and action.
  • Commitment to Oxfam’s equal opportunity and gender policies proven communication skills - verbal, written, visual of highest quality - suitable for range of internal and external audiences, including influencing senior managers
  • proven ability to convey complex information in a straightforward, motivating way
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project monitoring principles and tools

  • Familiarity with performance-based MEAL

  • Demonstrate accountability to partners and disaster & conflict-affected people and communities
  • Experience providing training/ workshops to both national and expatriate staff

Desirable:

  • Excellent understanding of Oxfam’s programme work areas and best practice in WASH, EFSL, Protection, and Gender
