Job Description
The Microfinance Bank (“MfB” or “Bank”) Manager is responsible for the Management and all of the functions of a MfB, these include but not limited to:


  • Directing all operational aspects including customer service, human resources, administration, product development and all MfB services;
  • Developing strategy and roadmap for improving the financial performance of the MfB and running it on a profitable basis;
  • Directing and coordinating liability generation for the MfB;
  • Driving the Bank team to ensure that customers’ needs are met by:
    • Building long lasting relationships with customers;
    • Attracting business and assisting customers with account opening and resolving account problems; and
    • Championing the delivery of a superior customer experience;
  • Creating a culture of high performance among staff within the MfB by:
    • Reviewing staff performance and making appropriate recommendations as well as coaching staff to achieve the required performance level.
    • Ensuring that the office is properly staffed and that staff are trained to meet customer service needs;
    • Keeping personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting the office and/or their job and creating an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged; and
    • Boosting staff morale through counselling and creating a conducive work environment as well as monitoring staff discipline
  • Maintaining an effective set budget and ensuring its compliance with the MfB’s policies and procedures,
  • Driving the actualisation of financial and non-financial targets;
  • Coordinating business development initiatives and championing the MfB reporting and inter-bank dealings;
  • Networking to improve the presence, reputation and overall objectives of the MfB;
  • Implementing strategies to achieve profitability, liquidity and compliance with the MfB’s regulations;
  • Preparing reports and informing the Directors/Shareholders about the performance of the MfB;
  • Communicating company-wide changes to the MfB staff and other stakeholders, be it implementation of a new product or a new procedure;

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline;
  • A post-graduate Degree in Business, Finance or Economics is an added advantage; and
  • A minimum of ten (10) years cognate Banking experience.

    • Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities and actions, makes self-available to staff, provides regular performance feedback, develops staff skills and encourages growth and continually work to improve supervisory skills;
    • Ability to communicate effectively with the MfB’s Board of Directors;
    • Strong corporate governance capabilities;
    • Ability to measure and monitor the MfB’s performance to shareholders’ satisfaction; and
    • Conserve the Bank’s resources and work within budget guidelines.
