1.) Research Assistant Supervisor

Responsibilities


  • We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Research Assistant Supervisor to join our team in Oyo State.
  • The Research Assistant Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and supporting Research Assistants across multiple wards in Atiba, Iseyin and Ibadan North LGAs, ensuring high-quality data collection and adherence to study protocols.
  • Supervise and support Research Assistants across multiple wards in Atiba, Iseyin and Ibadan North LGAs, ensuring they understand and follow study protocols, SOPs, procedures and ethical standards
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor and evaluate data quality and provide feedback to Research Assistants
  • Review data entered by research assistant for accuracy and completeness before sending to the study server
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry, verification and validation, and troubleshoot issues related to data collection and management
  • Provide regular feedback to the Research Assistants on the progress of data collection.
  • Coordinate with the M&E/Program Officer to ensure that the study is progressing as planned and that all data collection activities are on track
  • Support with the organization and facilitation of Focus Group Discussion and KII sessions
  • Co-facilitate refresher training and capacity building of Research Assistants
  • Support  the M&E/Program Officer in periodic data analysis and progress report of study implementation
  • Support the Program/M&E officer in monitoring and supervising study site compliance with protocol
  • Conduct regular site and community visits to monitor and evaluate data quality and provide feedback to Research Assistants
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry, verification and validation, and troubleshoot issues related to data collection and management
  • Providing guidance and support to Research Assistants to ensure that they are effectively communicating with study participants and caregivers, and collecting complete and accurate data
  • Assume data collection and other roles of research assistant when necessary and based on needs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree of HND in a health-related field, Social Sciences or a related field as a minimum
  • At least 2 years of experience in research project management, data collection and analysis
  • Experience in supervising and training research assistants in field data collection
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with electronic data collection tools such as ODK and REDCap
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be resident in the study LGAs in Oyo state; this is a prerequisite.
  • Knowledge of polio immunization programs in Nigeria is an added advantage.

Salary Range
N14,000 per day (inclusive of transportation and communication)

Note: This is a field-based position and will require travel within the study LGAs.

2.) Monitoring and Evaluation / Program Officer

Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) / Program Officer (to be based in Oyo state) that will represent Jhpiego Nigeria  and work closely with Oyo State Primary Healthcare Development Board and other relevant stakeholders in the state.
  • The position is both a technical and program management role. The candidate will oversee and monitor study sites for compliance with protocol and administer non-IRB checklist while providing logistics and administrative support for RAs and RA supervisors.
  • The successful candidate will be supported by Jhpiego Nigeria HQ team based in Abuja.
  • He/She will be responsible for overall data quality and integrity across all data collection activities, managing data collection and entry,  and providing timely feedback and recommendations to improve the study implementation and outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement M&E plans, systems, and tools to monitor and evaluate study progress, adherence to protocols, and data quality.
  • Oversee the use of electronic data collection tools such as ODK and REDCap by the research assistant and RA supervisors
  • Routinely supervise and monitor study sites for compliance with protocol and administer non-IRB checklists to ensure compliance with study protocol and SOPs while overseeing RAs and RA supervisors
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings as needed
  • Flag any human resource attrition among study team (Research assistant, RA supervisors etc.) as well as facility staff
  • Coordinate and manage good and service requests, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up with finance for payments
  • Support the program to provide appropriate coordination, meeting and transport logistics, and administrative support e.g. agenda, minutes of meetings, reports, activity profiles, and budgets, travel authorizations, and retirements
  • Provide regular feedback to Research Assistants and Research Assistant Supervisors on the progress of data collection
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry, verification and validation, and troubleshoot issues related to data collection and management
  • Conduct data analysis and contribute to the development of study reports, manuscripts and presentations
  • Collaborate with the Research Assistant Supervisor and study team to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations to improve the study implementation and outcomes
  • Contribute to report writing, annual work plans, project monitoring tracking matrices, target implementation plan, and relevant reports as required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • A Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field is preferred
  • At least 4 years of experience in M&E and program management in a research or health-related field
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience in designing and implementing M&E plans, systems, and tools
  • Familiarity with electronic data collection tools such as ODK and REDCap
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and willingness to reside in the study LGAs in Oyo state as a prerequisite
  • Knowledge of polio immunization programs in Nigeria is an added advantage.

Salary Range
NGN638,000 - NGN721,000 Monthly Gross.

3.) Research Assistant

Responsibilities

  • We are seeking diligent and detail-oriented Research Assistants to support data collection activities for a research project in Atiba, Iseyin, and Ibadan North LGAs of Oyo State.
  • Assist with the recruitment and enrolment of study participants
  • Identify, recruit and obtain consent from study participants in line with the research protocol, ensuring adherence to the study inclusion and exclusion criteria
  • Conduct data collection activities in compliance with study protocol, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and data quality control procedures
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting various data collection activities including household surveys, caregiver interviews, healthcare worker interviews, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and time-motion studies.
  • Data will be collected electronically using ODK/REDCap
  • Conduct structured observations of providers in intervention sites to collect costing data
  • Collect data on the acceptability and feasibility of Tropis for ID fIPV administration in the routine immunization program in Nigeria through surveys, qualitative interviews and focus group discussions with caregivers, healthcare workers and other stakeholders at facility and community levels
  • Review the quality, accuracy and completeness of data collected with RA supervisor, including timely and accurate data entry, verification and validation within specified timeframe and prior to transmitting to the study
  • Participate in study-specific and Tropis device-specific training as required
  • Participate in field pilot testing of data collection tools at selected sites in Oyo State
  • Attend team meetings and participate in capacity building
  • Ensure confidentiality and data security, including safeguarding research equipment and data capturing devices
  • Document and report any deviations from the protocol or ethical issues that arise during data collection
  • Assist with the coordination of logistics and inventory of supplies of Tropis device and related equipment
  • Complete and submit all weekly and monthly progress reports, including data collection tools and completed instruments used during the engagement
  • Any other duty assigned

Required Qualifications

  • OND, NCE, HND, Bachelor's Degree or any other post-secondary school qualification in a Health-related field, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of experience in research project data collection
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team,
  • Must be resident in the study LGAs in Oyo state, this is a prerequisite.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
