Jaza is a solar energy start-up working to power Sub-Saharan Africa. We build solar-powered shops which charge batteries customers use to power their homes. In 2022, we achieved over 1.5 million battery swaps, providing approximately 186,000 people access to clean, affordable energy.

Description


  • We’ve already successfully entered the Nigerian market, piloted several sites here and will grow to hundreds of locations over the next year. To support this expansion, we’re planning to hire over 200 people over the next 6 months.
  • To support this rapid expansion, we’re seeking an exceptional leader in people operations. The People Ops Lead will manage high-volume recruitment pipelines for our Hub Managers and Field Service Engineers alongside recruitment for other positions in finance, operations, and human resources.

Position Overview

  • To support this rapid expansion, we’re seeking an exceptional leader in people operations. The People Ops Lead will manage high-volume recruitment pipelines for our Hub Managers and Field Service Engineers alongside recruitment for other positions in finance, operations, and human resources. 
  • This provides an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain responsibility quickly and contribute directly to the critical growth stage of a business. We are seeking a process-driven generalist who can source, assess, and onboard exceptional talent.
  • The ideal candidate is someone with a high IQ/high EQ, who is ambitious, detail-oriented and extremely organised. 

Role and responsibilities
You will work across People Operations to:

  • Recruit - help Jaza attract and retain talent. You will think critically about where & how to find the best candidates. 
  • Assess - You will organise and manage the recruitment pipeline and conduct interviews with relevant candidates. You will act as a champion for the company culture and Jaza values and behaviours.
  • Onboard - onboard new team members and provide ongoing support.

Who you are

  • Candidates should possess relevant qualifications with at least 3 years experience
  • We are open to a wide range of backgrounds, but having experience in fields like project/program management, operations and human resources is most relevant. 
  • Comfortable in early-stage startup environments. You’re self-directed and take ownership and initiative. 
  • You are excited about our mission of increasing access to energy and employment for women.
  • Excellent people skills. Ideally, you’ve managed or supported a high-volume recruitment process in some capacity previously.
  • Solid project management skills and super high attention to detail.
  • Note: We do not care about your educational background. It’s more important to us that you’re ambitious and driven to succeed.
