Job Position: Risk Management & Quality Control Officer

Job Purpose

  • To oversee Jeeptrade International NG Commodity Risk Management & Quality Control.

Key Relationships (Internal and External)


  • Designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the Organisation, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur
  • Performing a risk assessment: Analysing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the Company
  • Performing a risk evaluation: Evaluating the company’s previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the company such as costs and legal requirements
  • Establishing the level of risk the company are willing to take
  • Preparing risk management and insurance budgets
  • Risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience. (Educating the board of directors about the most significant risks to the business; ensuring business heads understand the risks that might affect their departments; ensuring individuals understand their own accountability for individual risks)
  • Explaining the external risk posed by corporate governance to stakeholders
  • Creating business continuity plans to limit risks
  • Implementing health and safety measures, and purchasing insurance
  • Conducting policy and compliance audits, which will include liaising with internal and external auditors
  • Maintaining records of insurance policies and claims
  • Reviewing any new major contracts or internal business proposals
  • Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the company
  • Quality Control

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct and control activities of the Unit;
  • Oversee the quality control and assurance process of commodities across all procurement points and with all procurement agents
  • Develop, regularly review implementation of relevant operational policies, systems and quality operating procedures of the procurement process;
  • Update Quality standards and specification for commodities;
  • Support, monitor and control the grain quality inspection and certification process;
  • Develop new commodity standards and specifications;
  • Work with stakeholders on quality assurance and improvement initiatives on commodities;
  • Perform internal quality assurance audits that are compliant with the consistence and validity of issued grades, procedures and protocols that enable to increase efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Collaborate with other divisions and units to ensure customer satisfaction;
  • Cooperate and participate to ensure ongoing compliance with local, national and international quality standards and procedures;
  • Ensure report on quality operations is timely compiled and submitted to the Manager;
  • Identify relevant commodity Quality assurance training needs and opportunities;
  • Deliver on-going-training to Jeeptrade Operations staff;
  • Ensure that grading equipment satisfy the set minimum standard as per the Quality Operations Manual;
  • Conduct on-site review of grading activity at each facility;
  • Design and periodically updates the Unit’s manual.
  • Direct, lead, guide, support, orient, mentor, assign responsibilities and control staff responsible to him/her to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and trained to meet all Unit targets and that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standards;
  • Ensure that periodic performance reports are prepared and submitted to the Manager;
  • Implement audit recommendations related to the Unit’s activities

Competencies

  • Have knowledge of national and international risk management, standards and specification on agricultural commodities;
  • Knowledge and ability to create and review technical documentations, including test procedures and design documents;
  • Completed special training and knowledge on commodity risk management, quality control & inspection;
  • Knowledge on agricultural commodity risk management, quality management system, standards and specification;
  • Strong knowledge on risk/quality management system.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Fluency in English & Hausa languages
  • Highly organized and disciplined thinker, effective time manager, must have a task and project completion drive and focus
  • Experience in project purchasing is a plus
  • Understand and execute details of complex projects meet deadlines and overcoming obstacles
  • Strong organizational skills and process-oriented mindset
  • Ability to set, manage and track multiple priorities and related details
  • Ability to follow through with contractors, RF Connect personnel to get information/details required to meet our service level requirements
  • Ability to effectively present creative alternatives to the team in areas of improvement of system/tool initiatives
  • Contract knowledge
  • Sales tax knowledge
  • Solid math skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient knowledge and utilization of accounting software, purchasing software and ability to analyze projected materials costs versus actual costs, QuickBooks preferred.

Salary
N75,000 - N100,000 monthly.
