  1. Preventing accidents and responding to emergencies in the workplace
  2. Identifying, investigating, and controlling safety hazards
  3. Supporting the development and implementation of  policies and programs
  4. Advising and instructing on various safety-related topics
  5. Conducting risk assessments and enforcing preventative measures
