Safety Officer Job at Sevan Construction Nigeria Limited

Sevan Construction Nigeria Limited was established in 1981 with Registration No. RC 37125 as a limited liability company specialized in all kinds of Structural Steel fabrication design & erection to the civil construction and Oil & Gas Industries, development and manufacturing of various semi-trailers, rigid truck bodies, which enabled the company to deliver complete projects of steel structures coupled with civil engineering.


We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Safety Officer

Job Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Contract

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices or breach of safety regulations.
  • Facilitate and schedule repairs of unsafe or damaged equipment.
  • Organize safety training to educate company staff and contractors on necessary safety principles.
  • In-charge of incident/accident investigations and reporting.
  • Responsible for maintaining a hazard free environment.
  • Develop and implement safety, procedures, and policies for production operations.
  • Oversee the placement and setup of safety signs to warn of potential hazard.
  • Liaise with the quality control department of the company to determine if a finished product is safe for customers to use.
  • Carries out job hazard analysis before the start of a project.
  • Prepares and issues a JSA/JHA and work permits.
  • Prepare and present to company management periodic report of safety operations.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agents and investigators to address cases of workplace accident.
  • Proffer solutions on safety topics such as proper waste disposal, fire regulations, and noise pollution.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify work areas with high risk of operational hazard
  • Oversee company waste disposal methods to ensure they comply with safe disposal procedures.
  • Review company operational processes to ensure they are in line with external safety legislations.

Requirements / Skills

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree qualification with 3 - 5 years of work experience.
  • Good communication and interpersonal relationship
  • Vast knowledge of safety procedures in the oil & Gas, fabrication and EPC industry.
  • Sound human relation and planning processes
  • Relevant Engineering or Manufacturing health, safety and environment experience.
  • Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis experience
  • Good understanding/experience of safety procedural standards.
  • Computer literacy. Drive and Initiative.
