Job Description

  • Tetra Maritime a Nigerian maritime solutions company is seeking a top-performing 1st/2nd line IT, Helpdesk Technician, to provide technical ‘hands-on’ support, insights, and direction as it pertains to Microsoft Azure IaaS, Azure SQL, and Office 365.
  • This will improve the image of IT through consistent communications and strategy both locally and as part of the wider IT Infrastructure.
  • The 1st/2nd line IT Helpdesk Technician will oversee and maintain IT support for the local business whilst reporting to the global team.
  • We are looking for a motivated and results-oriented candidate with integrity; a positive, can-do attitude, and excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • This position will work closely with our team to support Tetra Foundation and Tetra Maritime through IT support, knowledge, and dedication.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the architecture for an enterprise-wide cloud infrastructure framework
  • Provide technical ‘hands-on’ support, insights, and direction as it pertains to Microsoft Azure IaaS, Azure SQL, and Office 365
  • Collaborate with the current Infrastructure Support team on a day-to-day basis, with daily ticket and regular asset management reviews
  • Manage and follow up the execution of all IT tasks inside the project (workflows and processes);
  • Establishes system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of PC and server hardware, software, LAN, and WAN networks, and operating and system management systems, defining system, operational policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks, and operating and system management systems; designing and escalating application problems to vendors.
  • Training staff on new technology available in the facility.
  • Performing hands-on desktop support in conjunction with incumbent Desktop Engineer
  • Implement and document network operations, processes, and procedures.
  • Deploy and implement office network according to home office specifications.
  • Serve as the office Network Administrator. Identify and solve possible problems in the network. Supervise installations performed by third parties, such as cabling and internet connection.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of technology products and services.
  • Oversee and maintain the offices’ internet connection and follow up with internet payment.
  • Negotiate contracts and purchases with vendors for software, hardware, and internet services.
  • Requesting software licenses and hardware from HQ
  • Upgrades, installs and troubleshoots networks, networking hardware devices, and servers’ software.
  • Maintaining an inventory of all IT-related equipment and parts as well as documentation and license provided by HQ or local vendors
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the CCTV system for offices and residences
  • Seeks ways to apply new technology to help and ease up staff tasks.
  • Liaise with Third Party Providers in the support of Infrastructure and Communications
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification / Experience

  • Graduate Degree in ICT, Information Systems, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant IT Support/Technician experience in a similar role
  • Certification in CompTIA Network + and its equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience with Office 365 and Windows OS
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting Hardware and Peripherals
  • Desirable experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience working in Microsoft Admin and Microsoft Exchange.
