Job Description

  • Reporting to the General Manager or their designate, the Accountant would be responsible for overseeing the management financial and reporting procedures.
  • The Accountant will have a role in maintaining financial records, analyzing financial data, and offering insights to aid decision making.
  • This role requires attention to details and proficiency in financial accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all aspects of the company’s financial accounting processes, such as accounts general ledger and payroll.
  • Prepare and assess financial statements, reports, and projections to offer insights into the company’s financial performance and trends.
  • Compile tax returns for filing purposes—covering income tax, sales tax alongside submissions—ensuring compliance with tax laws.
  • Manage cash flow, monitor banking activities, and reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy and transparency of financial transactions.
  • Formulate controls and protocols to protect company assets against fraud or any mishandling of finances.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles, regulations and company policies in all transactions and reporting activities.
  • Conduct audits of procedures and records to pinpoint and resolve discrepancies or concerns.
  • Collaborate with other departments to collect financial data analyze budget discrepancies and assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Work together with auditors, tax consultants and regulatory bodies as needed to facilitate audits, evaluations, and compliance checks.

Required Skills

  • Financial analysis: Ability to examine financial data and offer insights to aid decision making within the company.
  • Proficiency in accounting software: Ability to use accounting tools like QuickBooks, SAP or other relevant platforms for documenting transactions creating reports and managing information effectively.
  • Attention to detail: Paying attention to detail is vital for logging financial transactions preparing financial statements and spotting inconsistencies or mistakes in financial records.
  • Problem solving skills; Having problem solving abilities is crucial for resolving discrepancies dealing with challenges and implementing solutions to enhance financial processes and controls.
  • Analytical Thinking: Possessing the ability to think analytically, and critically assess data to recognize trends, patterns, and areas for enhancement in performance and processes.
  • Time Management: Efficient time management skills are essential for prioritizing tasks meeting deadlines and handling responsibilities effectively in a work setting.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—are essential for conveying information to stakeholders collaborating with colleagues and offering financial recommendations or insights to management.
  • Maintaining standards and integrity is essential, in upholding the confidentiality of financial information following accounting principles and regulations and carrying out financial tasks with honesty and openness.
