Accounts/Inventory Officer

ANIK Stores is a chain of retail stores with multiple shop locations in Lagos Island, Lagos State with more than 20 years in experienced existence. Primarily focused on importation, wholesale and retail distribution of souvenirs, corporate gift items, kitchen utensils and electronics.

Job Description
Inventory officers manage, receive and dispatch goods, and track and maintain stocks levels and inventory. This role may also be known as supply clerk or warehouse clerk.

As an inventory officer, you would:


  • Receive, store and issue goods
  • Fulfil purchase orders
  • Record and track stock levels
  • Monitor distribution of stock
  • Maintain stock records using manual or computerized systems
  • Draw up inventories
  • Check supplies against invoice and purchase orders
  • Undertake monthly stock takes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to professionally interact with others, and present ideas, proposals and results to management.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work as assigned by Inventory Manager, including tracking and maintaining inventory, and properly completing required audit functions.
  • Working knowledge of warehousing processes and procedures, warehouse equipment operation, and general mechanical maintenance.  Educational training will also be given consideration.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team based environment to achieve goals and objectives. Ability to build and maintain good communications and relationships with others to build trust and influence others.    Fosters a spirit of teamwork both inside and outside the work group.
  • Communicates in a clear, concise, understandable manner both orally and in writing.  Listens carefully and asks questions to understand the views, concerns and comments of others.  Openly expresses ideas and opinions. Stays accessible and approachable.  Asks for feedback and suggestions from others.
  • A love for clerical duties and an attention to detail and accuracy
  • This position’s working days are Mondays to Saturdays.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Works in constant communication and harmony with the store keepers.

Education and Experience

  • Ordinary National Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Business, Procurement, Logistics, or related discipline preferred.
  • One year related work experience required. Experience in a Market environment preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Seeing: Must be able to read reports and use computer.
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers.
  • Talking: Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of spoken words.
  • Sitting: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

Work Environment

  • Work is typically performed inside a series of stores in a typical market setting.
  • Proper training will be supplied and adherence to all safety and operational procedures will need to be followed.
  • Tight spaces and market noise.
  • Light exposure to outdoor weather conditions including wind, rain and humidity.
