Job Description


  • We are seeking a Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and hands-on experience in building secure, highly available fintech payment systems.
  • This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in transaction-heavy environments and is eager to contribute to Swiftlink’s mission of delivering merchant-focused payment solutions across Nigeria.

Role & Responsibilities
The individual in this role will:

  • Design and develop Swiftlink’s core payment processing engine, ensuring scalability and resilience.
  • Implement transaction routing, settlement, and reconciliation for cards, transfers, and wallets.
  • Integrate with banks, processors, and card schemes (ISO8583, APIs).
  • Work with CloudHSM and Vault to implement secure key management practices.
  • Build and maintain microservices architecture leveraging Kubernetes and Kafka.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Operations teams to ensure PCI DSS-ready implementations.
  • Apply best practices in secure coding, scalability, and availability for mission-critical services.
  • Support technical documentation and knowledge-sharing within engineering teams.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in backend engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of Java/Kotlin (Spring Boot).
  • Proven experience in payment systems (ISO8583, card processing, settlement, reconciliation).
  • Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and static code analysis (SonarQube, CodeQL).
  • Understanding of PCI DSS standards and secure software development practices.
