Mentally Aware Nigeria is founded on two core beliefs: first, that all possible steps should be taken to alleviate stigma and the suffering arising from it, caused by ignorance and an unbelievable silence and negligence towards the health of the mind, from federal setups down to the locales; and second, that it becomes known that those affected by this disaster (as depicted in the first point), have a right to life with dignity and therefore a right to assistance.

Background
- Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative is a youth-run and all of our staff and the majority of our volunteers fall within the age group of our primary target group.
- We have also co-designed our activities with and for young people who are engaged with our programming, including those with lived experience of mental health conditions.
Role Description
- This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lagos State, Nigeria, for a Content Officer.
- The Content Officer will be responsible for developing, managing, and implementing creative content across various platforms.
- Key duties include writing and editing mental health content, managing content within digital platforms, and coordinating social media campaigns to engage the organisation’s audience and promote mental health awareness.
- The role also involves collaborating with the team to execute a cohesive content strategy and ensuring alignment with the organisation’s goals.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Promote a culture of safeguarding by ensuring that all online interactions are respectful and safe.
- Ensure all content protects the dignity and privacy of individuals, particularly those with lived experience of mental health issues.
The purpose of this job shall be to:
- Create, improve, and maintain engaging content to promote a positive image of the organisation.
- Drive brand awareness by being involved in all stages of the communication process, from concept to message development to result-oriented evaluation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Communication, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a content officer, or a similar role, preferably within the non-profit or advocacy sector.
- Excellent knowledge of content creation.
- Ability to effectively use a variety of social media platforms and Analytic tools.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues, advocacy, and related terminologies.
- Computer Literate: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, WordPress.
