Job Description

• The environmental officer is expected to assess environmental projects on the ground.
• She/he should evaluate the performance of projects and public awareness levels
• She/he should be able to monitor performance of staff on the ground
• She/he is expected to identify and plan environmental related activities
• She/he should have the ability to analyze environmental matters and write reports
• She/he is responsible for carrying out impact assessment for environment awareness projects
• She/he is in charge of mainstreaming environmental matters
• She/he liaises with the government, donors and other organizations with similar interests
• She/he is responsible for securing funding to sustain environmental projects and activities
• She/he writes the budget and ensures that funds are allocated appropriately to respective projects.

Key Roles

• The Candidate must be conversant with:
• Baseline study such as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), post EIA
• Environmental training
• Environmental audit
• Waste management etc.

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess a B.Sc or M.Sc in Environmental Management or related field.
• Must be a Professional Member of Nigeria Environmental Society or its Equivalent.

Experience:

• 2 - 5 years experience in a related job
