Job Position: Finance Director


Job Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Contract
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Supervises: Finance Department
Interaction: All Business Partners

Job Purpose

  • The Finance Director will lead the strategic financial management and yearly operational planning of the organization, provide financial advice to Management and the CEO utilizing current financial information, including analysis of trends and forecasts. She/he must be a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial management, planning, and analysis.
  • The ideal candidate must possess exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of financial regulations and compliance, and a proven track record of driving financial efficiency and growth.

Key Roles, Responsibilities
Oversee and lead the daily operations of the Finance Department:

  • Provide financial advice on current business and financial trends with relations to the organization, projects, budgets etc.
  • Lead the organization’s financial planning, strategy development and implementation
  • Analyze and report on Preston Associates financial performance
  • Conduct feasibility studies
  • Oversee all audit and internal control operations and tax functions
  • Review and update where appliable PAID’s accounting systems, policies and procedures
  • Conduct analysis to develop financial forecasts and reports to the CEO
  • Supervise the preparation of detailed monthly management report for the CEO
  • Oversee the financial implementation of the Preston's strategies
  • Managing hedging and foreign currencies
  • Maintain oversight on PAID’s banking activities
  • Overseeing commercial decision-making from tender analysis, margin analysis, pricing analysis etc.
  • Develop a robust financial management system
  • Consistently carry out financial risk management
  • Compliance with all financial procedures, regulations and legal obligations
  • Investment management
  • Prepare and submit timely and detailed quarterly and yearly financial performance report for the CEO
  • Advising and implementing best practice methods to increase revenue and reduce costs
  • Provide expert trainings the finance and non-financial staff

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in Finance / Accountancy, Business Administration or equivalent and a minimum of 13 years of work experience in senior financial managerial position with proven record of success in a large and complex international NGO or organization
  • Certification in CPA, ACA ACA, CIMA
  • Proficient in financial management of multilateral (IMF, UN, WHO, EDF etc.), bilateral organizations (USAID, FCDO, DFID, CIDA etc.) and other major funders e.g., the Gates Foundation, MasterCard Foundation, etc.
  • Proficient in managing financial and accounting systems of companies with large operations and networks, entailing complexities in financial control, accounts consolidation, and cash management
  • Proficient in presenting complex financial information in a succinct manner
  • Proficency in finance softwares such as Sunsystem ERP (enterprise Resource), NetSuite, SAP Business One, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Odoo ERP
  • Expert in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite and MS Project, etc.
  • Excellent ability to apply quality management principles and processes
  • Expert knowledge of development sector protocols and best practices
  • Experience in mentoring, training, lead, motivate and develop others
  • Ability to think analytical, results-oriented, metrics-driven, creative and problem- solving
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills e.g attention to detail, networking, negotiation, influencer, leadership and interpersonal skills
