We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Heavy Equipment and Machinery Mechanic 

Job Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities
Diagnosis and Repair:


  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, cranes, and trucks.
  • Perform routine inspections to detect and prevent problems before they escalate.

Maintenance:

  • Conduct regular maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication, to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely.
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines and maintenance schedules.

Parts Replacement:

  • Replace or repair faulty parts and components, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
  • Source and order replacement parts as needed.

Welding and Fabrication:

  • Utilize welding and fabrication skills to repair damaged equipment components or structures.

Documentation:

  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, hours worked, and diagnostics performed.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure it meets safety standards.

Customer Service:

  • Communicate with equipment operators and other staff to gather information on equipment performance and issues.
  • Provide clear explanations of required repairs and maintenance to clients or supervisors.

Training:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and equipment models through training programs.
  • Share knowledge and provide training to junior mechanics or apprentices.

Qualifications
Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational or technical training in heavy equipment maintenance is often preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a heavy equipment mechanic is typically required.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and hydraulic systems.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Certifications:

  • Certification from relevant professional organizations may be advantageous.
