Isidore Agritech Limited Recruitment for Financial Accountant - Hybrid

Isidore is a digital platform for Agri-SMEs (e.g. suppliers of grains) & Agro Buyers (e.g. Feed mills, FMCGS) that enables purchase order management and facilitates access to working capital, for all in the value chain. Through our Jinja platform, we provide a free mobile-first ERP tool focused on purchase order fulfilment with embedded access to capital. We also extend payables on behalf of Agro Buyers thereby reducing their need for corporate financing.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Financial Accountant - Hybrid
Job Location: Lagos

What we're Looking for


  • A diligent, qualified, management accountant to play an integral role within the business. You will play a pivotal part in the delivery of the consolidated management accounts.
  • Reporting directly into the Co-Founder, you will have great exposure to senior stakeholders. Alongside the management accounting, you will be business partnering across the business, in particular with; Operations, Risk and Sales.
  • You must be a reliable, driven, and self-directing individual with the ability to organise, plan, and foresee your work strategy. You are a good communicator, an excellent listener, self-motivated, a natural problem solver, and a great multi-tasker who is able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external auditors during field work exercise and in the preparation of annual audited financial statements.
  • Develop and monitor all financial systems with a view to improve and streamline procedures.
  • Prepare and review the monthly Statement of Profit or Loss and Other Comprehensive Income (SOCI), the Statement of Financial Position(SOFP) and Statement of Cash Flow.
  • Ensure that all accounting systems, procedures are in line with the International Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate completion of all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Prepare and review annual audit work papers and ensure adjustments journals are passed to agree company’s books and records with the audited financial statements.
  • Prepare and maintain inter-company reconciliation including calculation of monthly inter-company transfer/transactions and any resulting FX gain/loss.
  • Facilitate the year end process by providing assistance with the preparation of the final account and the consolidated account.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures set by the company are implemented and internal controls are operating effectively.
  • Provide the necessary support for the statutory annual audit, regulatory audit and tax audits by making relevant schedules and source documents available on time.
  • Ensure that the PAYE, Pension, WHT and VAT are appropriately deducted and remitted.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure that controls are put in place to safeguard the company’s assets.
  • Maintain quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Continuously update, review and document the Company’s financial policies and procedures.
  • Lead staff development and succession planning for Financial Control team members.
  • Actively recruit, mentor and develop team members’ capability and future leadership potential.
  • Scrutinise payment vouchers before payment is effected with a view to controlling expenses.
  • Other functions that may be required by Management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related fields
  • 5 years experience.
  • Internationally recognised accounting professional qualifications (ACA, CPA, ACCA, CMA,)
  • Experience in the financial services sector, especially Fintech (with transaction volumes), would be an advantage
  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
  • High level of integrity and ethical behaviour – sets a good example
  • Have proven experience within an accounting department
  • Be an effective team player with a positive attitude
  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better
  • Solid team player with high energy and go get attitude to deliver results
  • A high degree of resilience, self-initiative with a positive attitude
  • Mature, proactive, resourceful and hands-on with good initiative
