Halifield Schools - Founded in 1996, Halifield School was initially situated on Salami Street, Mende until 2003 when it relocated to its permanent premises on Oki Lane, Maryland, Lagos. In 2009, Halifield commenced a secondary school which is a preparatory ground for university entry and a grooming centre for adolescents.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Upper Elementary Teacher

Job Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsible to: Upper Elementary Supervisor
Responsible for: Years Four and Five Pupils

Main Duties


  • To promote high academic standards in pupils’ Performances in accordance with the approved benchmarks.
  • To be responsible for drawing up short and long term plans that will ensure that each child is working towards set learning goals; to promote the welfare of children in your care.
  • To prepare well planned lessons that will provide high quality learning experiences and opportunities for the children as well as ensure that every child’s learning profile is taken into consideration.
  • To ensure that children’s exercise books are marked and necessary corrections done promptly.
  • To give targets that are relevant to a child’s need with the view of remediating a gap or a need in the child’s academics.
  • To maintain proper records like daily attendance, diary, daily reports (which will include illnesses, absences, accidents and incidents) regularly and submit promptly.
  • To ensure that the class is a safe place for children, that equipment is safe and to ensure specific needs of children are known
  • To attend in service trainings and meetings as required.
  • To ensure that there is adequate and prompt assessment of children’s (academic and behavioural) progress to ascertain where there is a gap for remediation.
  • To maintain open communication with parents of the children in the class through communication book and to report serious issues to the supervisor for onward prompt resolution.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Supervisor/Head Teacher in accordance with the schools objectives.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Students performance rating (at least 50% on Zenith level and 40% on Merit; 95% of pupils must achieve the class bench marks by June each year)
  • Parents Satisfaction Index (zero errors, no smacking and 100% attention for every child)
  • Teachers Performance Index (90% technology based teaching and learning that brings about the understanding of concepts;
  • Pupils Learning Performance Index (80% activity enhanced learning accomplished by VAK.
  • (VAK means Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic)
  • Overall Sections Performance Index (32 pupils minimum number on roll)

Education and Work Experiences

  • First Degree in any relevant field
  • 5 Years Experience
  • Job Specific Certification/ Teaching Qualification/PGDE/PGDCE

Skills and Competences:

  • Grounded knowledge of the Integrated Curriculum.

2.) Senior Accountant

Job Locations: Maryland and Lekki - Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Responsible for the day-to-day aspects of the Schools’ accounting and reporting functions.
  • Provides timely and accurate information for decision-making, in collaboration with the finance team and school leaders.
  • In charge of accounts receivables and ensures timely collection as well as ensures compliance with all accounting policies.
  • Ensures that preparation of weekly, monthly and termly reports, are done timely and accurately.
  • Supports the preparation of statutory reports and liaises with external auditors and other consultants.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure entry of, review and approve manual journals
  • Review bank reconciliation statements
  • Ensure all phone and email communication is responded to within the stipulated 48-hr time frame.
  • Prepare termly subaccounts for school bus shuttle, kitchen, hostel, programs and clubs.
  • Prepare management accounts and supporting schedules every term.
  • Perform periodic balance sheet review (summary of the assets and liabilities)
  • Preparation of termly school budget.
  • Ensure timely generation of accurate school bills for all students.
  • Admission entry of all new students
  • Ensure timely collection of receivables/issue receipts/debt drive [and posting to Quickbooks]
  • Ensure regular update of Students Records in Accounting Software as and when due.
  • Review Account Receivable processes and ensures policy compliance.
  • Review Accounts payable processes
  • Monitor statutory payments and advise management on prompt settlement
  • Monitor remittance of monthly statutory deductions
  • Preparation of payroll and ensuring timely payment of staff salaries
  • Preparation and sending of monthly pay slips to staff
  • Preparation of periodic Gratuity and Furniture contributions for staff
  • Responsible for the School finance department’s budget
  • Ensure adequate customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
  • General Communication to parent customers on Accounting matters
  • Other tasks as may be assigned by the Director.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Timeliness and accuracy in billing and collection of all school fees.
  • Timeliness and accuracy of weekly, monthly, termly and annual financial reports.
  • Accuracy of business projections relating to finance
  • Level of compliance with accounting guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Customer satisfaction index - for all parents, students and staff.

Education and Work Experience

  • First Degree or equivalent qualification in accounting or any finance related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Certified in relevant professional qualifications (ICAN, ACA, CIMA, CPA, ACCA).

Skills and Competences:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experienced with customer relationship management.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good sense of responsibility, accountability and dependability.
  • Deep accounting knowledge, working knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and Finance leading practices

  • Fill scheme of work, students’ attendance, Mark-sheets, psychomotor and affective domains in the diary.
  • Plan, prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
  • Use experiments, practical or project-based teaching to enhance and improve students learning
