Job Position: Lead Consulting Civil Engineer

Job Summary

  • The Civil Lead Consulting Engineer provides expert leadership and technical direction in the design, planning, and execution of civil and structural engineering projects.
  • This role oversees multiple consulting assignments — including infrastructure, building, and construction projects — ensuring all designs and implementations meet client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory specifications.
  • The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with project management expertise and leadership ability.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Management:

  • Lead and manage civil and structural engineering projects from concept to completion.
  • Define project scope, technical specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Supervise and review detailed engineering designs, drawings, and documentation.
  • Ensure effective coordination with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, and architectural).
  • Oversee project execution, monitoring progress, risks, and deliverables.

Technical Design & Consultancy:

  • Provide expert consultancy in structural design, foundation engineering, and construction supervision.
  • Prepare and review designs for buildings, bridges, roads, drainage, and other civil infrastructure.
  • Conduct geotechnical, hydrological, and structural analysis for proposed projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (BS, ACI, ASCE, Eurocode, or local codes).
  • Approve drawings, calculations, BOQs, and technical reports before submission.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Enforce quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures at all stages of design and construction.
  • Ensure all works comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and materials.
  • Conduct site inspections, structural integrity assessments, and audits.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor and liaison between the company, clients, and contractors.
  • Provide professional recommendations and technical presentations to clients and management.
  • Support bid preparation, proposal writing, and business development activities.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional service delivery.

Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Lead and mentor junior civil engineers, drafters, and site supervisors.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and innovation within the team.
  • Conduct regular training and performance evaluations for project staff.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Quality and accuracy of design and technical deliverables.
  • On-time and within-budget project delivery.
  • Client satisfaction and retention rate.
  • Compliance with engineering codes and safety standards.
  • Team performance and knowledge development.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Engineering Management is an advantage.

Certifications:

  • NSE, COREN registration preferred.
  • Certified Lead Auditor in ISO 9001 is required (additional certifications in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or API Q1/Q2 are a plus).
  • Project Management certification (PMP/PRINCE2) is an added advantage.
  • HSE Certification (Level 1–3) is an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in civil and structural engineering consulting.
  • Proven experience in infrastructure design, structural analysis, and project supervision.
  • Experience working on commercial, industrial, and public sector projects.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD Pro, Revit, or similar design software.
  • Strong analytical, structural design, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, standards, and project management principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
