Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange (LCFE) was incorporated in May 2015 and was granted full operating License on June 14th, 2019 by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC, Nigeria). LCFE was created to provide a transparent and standardised platform for the trading of commodities in four Asset classes.

Job Summary


  • We're currently recruiting for a Legal & Compliance Officer who'll provide legal advisory services and ensure effective management of legal and contractual risks for the Exchange.

Responsibilities

  • Review and advise on all legal matters.
  • Liaise with all regulatory bodies and departments to ensure that all legal risks are identified and appropriate actions taken.
  • Provide and interpret legal information and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff.
  • Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
  • Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that these are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements of the Exchange.
  • Review progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.
  • Continuously monitor and ensure compliance with statutory obligations and advise the management accordingly.
  • Review all contracts and other documents where the Company has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the management’s attention.
  • Organise and prepare agendas and papers for board meetings, committees and annual general meetings (AGMs).
  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation, dividends, share option, code of conduct, ethical standards.

Requirements

  • BL / LLB Degree
  • 2-3 years as a Legal and Compliance Executive
  • Managed Legal Secreterial duties.
  • Thorough with local regulations and laws across all area's under scope.
