Job Position: Second Engineer (Marine)
Job Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Overview
- The Second Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in maintaining and operating the vessel’s engineering systems.
- They are directly involved in the daily operation, repair, and maintenance of machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of engines, generators, and auxiliary systems.
- Conduct routine checks and ensure proper functioning of all machinery.
- Supervise junior engineering staff and assign tasks as directed by the Chief Engineer.
- Monitor engine performance and report issues to the Chief Engineer.
- Maintain engineering logs and support in preparing maintenance reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards during engineering operations.
Qualifications
- Valid Second Engineer’s license (STCW compliant).
- 8 - 12 years of experience with mechanical systems on vessels, preferably in security or high-speed craft.
- Good technical understanding and ability to troubleshoot machinery issues.
- Applicable Certificate of Competence from Nimasa.
