Job Objective
To provide Mechanical Engineering support to Project Teams and Tendering ensuring cost effective solutions that spans across:


  • Performing discipline engineering scope
  • Overall delivery of project and tender technical deliverables
  • Leadership of technical issue resolution
  • Productive utilization and absorption of engineering and design resources
  • Prioritization and planning of engineering activities and deliverables
  • Sharing Technical expertise with team members.
  • Supports field technical issues and support team leads in technical communications with clients/vendors when required.
  • Interface with other disciplines, user departments and Clients.
  • Estimation / engineering work related to tendering processes.
  • Supervise and groom Junior Mechanical Engineer to develop his technical knowledge, skills and competencies in order to produce potential talent for future business needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of design or application.
  • Work with Proposal/Commercial team as well as project teams to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules.
  • Develop major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Ensure that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.
  • Provide support during the fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.
  • Coordinate activities with other project department involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems.
  • Provides technical direction, support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters.
  • Design of pressure vessel, Shell & tube heat exchanger, Reactor, Process Column, Storage Tank
  • Preparation and checking of all project deliverables including Specifications, Data Sheets, MR and TBE
  • Vendor Document Review of Pressure vessel, Shell & tube heat exchanger, Reactor, Process Column, Storage Tank, Air Cooled exchanger, other static equipment
  • Carry out technical evaluation of vendor offers, manage Vendor Technical discussion as well as Vendor Kick of Meeting
  • Performs interdisciplinary checks as well as corresponding with vendors.
  • Review ITT (Invitation to Tender) documents and technical correspondence submitted in the proposals stage, issue inquiry requisitions, review techno -commercial vendor offers.
  • Prepare equipment, material and man -hour estimates.
  • Review contract requirements for project execution, identify technical requirements, scope of work; review Project specifications, Process Data Sheets (PDS), Piping Instrumentation Diagrams (P & IDs), Plot plans,
  • Equipment Layout Drawings, and other relevant documents.
  • Establish contract review criteria, identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal through the instigation of technical queries to projects /client.
  • Review Project Design Basis, Prepare equipment Design Basis, Mechanical data sheets.
  • Prepare Inquiry Requisitions, Purchase Requisitions; participate in the technical evaluation of vendor offers, preparation of Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), review vendor drawings and documents.
  • Supervise and groom Junior Mechanical Engineer to develop his technical knowledge, skills and competencies in order to produce potential talent for future business needs

Requirements
Educational Qualification required:

  • A Bachelor's Degree (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering.

Professional Qualification required:

  • Preferably a COREN Registered Engineer.

Experience required:

  • 7+ years experience in Mechanical engineering design (onshore & offshore) within the Oil and Gas EPC/Petrochemical
  • Design Engineering (or related) environment.

Functional Competencies:

  • Knowledge and experience in working with API and ASME codes and standards.
  • Desirable to have familiarity with specifications and standards of international Clients like Shell DEP, Total GS, etc
  • Shall be conversant with PV-Elite / Autopipe Vessel / Compress
  • Working knowledge on AutoCAD, Finite Element Analysis (FEA)is desirable.

  • Must be experienced in FEED, Detailed Engineering Design (DED), Procurement, Construction and Installation projects.
