About the Role
We are seeking a Field Systems Engineer for a Tier 1 Oil & Gas servicing Company in Nigeria  to provide onsite technical support, integration, and maintenance of IT systems in field operations. This role will ensure the reliability, performance, and security of critical systems used in production, drilling, and operational environments. The successful candidate will work closely with field teams to troubleshoot complex issues, implement system upgrades, and support integration between IT and operational technologies.

Key Responsibilities


  1. Provide onsite systems engineering support for IT and operational environments in field locations.
  2. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and integration issues affecting field systems.
  3. Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of servers, operating systems, and applications.
  4. Assist with field-based system integration between IT, OT, and engineering tools.
  5. Monitor system performance, reliability, and compliance with IT/OT security standards.
  6. Collaborate with central IT, engineering, and vendors to implement solutions and upgrades.
  7. Document field engineering procedures, incidents, and solutions for knowledge sharing.
  8. Provide guidance and basic training to field users on supported systems.
  9. Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity activities for field systems.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  2. 5+ years’ experience in systems engineering, IT support, or field technical services.
  3. Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and networking basics.
  4. Familiarity with operational technology (OT) systems in oil & gas or industrial environments is an advantage.
  5. Hands-on troubleshooting skills in field/remote environments.
  6. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CompTIA Server+, or equivalent are a plus.
  7. Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
  8. Willingness to work in challenging field locations with minimal supervision.
