Job Position: Transport / Alignment Engineer

Job Location: Gboko, Benue

Job Summary

• We are looking for a highly experienced Transport/Alignment Engineer with at least 10years of hands-on experience in road infrastructure projects.
• The ideal candidate must possess strong technical knowledge of road construction processes, including the operation of earth-moving machinery and asphalting techniques.
• This position is suitable for both qualified engineers and experienced site foremen with a solid track record in managing on-ground road works.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and execute road construction projects, including earthworks, base preparation, and asphalting.
• Coordinate the operation of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, graders, rollers, pavers, and excavators.
• Oversee the full construction process from site preparation to final pavement layers.
• Ensure all works are carried out according to design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Supervise and guide field teams, machinery operators, and subcontractors on daily activities.
• Monitor material usage, production rates, and project timelines.
• Conduct site inspections and resolve technical or operational issues promptly.
• Liaise with engineers, site managers, and client representatives to ensure smooth project execution.
• Maintain equipment logs and ensure proper maintenance of machinery on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in road construction, including hands-on knowledge of asphalt paving and earth-moving operations.
• Degree/Diploma in Civil or Transport Engineering (for engineers) OR proven site-based experience as a Road Works Foreman or Site Supervisor.
• Strong understanding of road construction methods, pavement layers, grading, and compaction processes.
• Experience working with construction equipment such as pavers, compactors, graders, and excavators.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and road design plans.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, site regulations, and quality control in road construction.
