Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Lagos
Responsibilities
- To lead and direct a project team consisting of design & construction, commercial, planning, testing & commissioning and support personnel throughout the project life cycle
- Responsible for the development and execution of processes and documentation necessary to properly execute requirements, and project management.
- To create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Provision of a professional, first class, consistent and effective project management service to clients
- Act as client contact and retain overall responsibility for successful delivery of projects on time and to budget
- Arrange client start up meeting and act as principal client contact
- To apply the clients methodology effectively and enforce project standards.
- Ensure regular effective communication with clients and project teams
- To minimise company exposure to risk on the project.
- To win work by leading, managing and coordinating bids/estimates
- Ensure project costs are regularly reviewed and invoices are raised on a regular basis
- Work closely with Project Engineers in order to ensure client requirements are properly met
- Capture project requirements and prepare a business case to justify investment in a project.
- Develop and implement a schedule of project activities and key milestones to achieve the project objectives.
- Maintain communications with stakeholders and the project team/organisation to satisfy their differing needs.
- Handover and closure of the project in a controlled manner highlighting any areas for improvements or elements of good practice to be considered in future projects.
- Liaise with Commercial and Planning teams to provide appropriate support to the bid/project
- Ensure that projects comply fully with all statutory and regulatory provisions
- Support and adhere to policies, procedures and operational guidelines related to established project management system.
- Review and approval of reports and drawings for remit compliance
- Ensure that all health, safety and welfare obligations associated with the project delivery are met.
- Maintain working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner and distributed to team.
- To ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Monitor emerging issues and identify and implement solutions.
- Through the team, ensure the delivery of the project within the given constraints of time and cost and quality and in accordance with the Integrated Management System
- Assign, lead and motivate the project team to ensure all project (time, cost, quality, health and safety and environmental and heritage) objectives are achieved.
- To ensure that relations with the client and all stakeholders in the project are maintained and managed to an appropriate level.
- To identify the necessary resources and assign individual responsibilities.
- Resolve conflicts over resource allocation
- To actively liaise with Team Leader Project Management to identify and resolve any problems in project delivery, including anticipated problems as well as over-spend and late delivery
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements/Skills
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline, Preferably, Engineering Degree (or equivalent)
- 3-5 years hands on Project management experience and proven success in the management of projects.
- Experience of interfacing with or managing construction projects
- Robust knowledge of project management processes and systems
- Ability to plan and conduct meetings.
- Good understanding of commercial and financial matters aswell as extensive knowledge of current market conditions.
- Knowledge of planning software, techniques and tools to assist in management
- Good knowledge of contract and health & safety law.
- Excellent IT skills including Excel, Word and other MS office applications.
- A solid understanding and knowledge as well as broad technical capabilities and experience covering civil, infrastructure and building related works, including an appreciation of environmental constraints
- 20% Travel required.

- Technical/Functional Expertise: Able to demonstrate mastery of the technical/functional skills necessary for performing own job; maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of the advances in field; regularly publish or present on leading-edge issues; conduct leading-edge research or similar work that has organization-wide impact; play a key role in advancements in profession.
- Leadership: Ability to adapt and promote project development improvements through positive influence; improve and communicate process and related process improvements; provide clear and concise direction and objectives for team members; establish an honest and open team environment to foster a team work ethic; continually promote a corporate growth path for team members.A team player capable of leading and focusing team members to achieve objectives
