Mkobo Microfinance Bank is a fully licensed Microfinance bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Lagos, Nigeria. MKOBO was conceived to help solve consumers’ need for access to short-term emergency credit. Our goal is to provide access to short term unsecured loans, which is easily accessible. We cater to the demography currently undeserved by the Commercial banks in our aim to help increase financial inclusion of the Nigerian population.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Head Internal Audit and Compliance

Description


  • The purpose of this role is to direct a comprehensive program of internal audit to ensure that internal control systems are effective and reliable.The role focuses on the integrity of financial, operational, and information technology systems.
  • The Head of Internal Audit is also responsible for developing, updating, and executing the Internal Audit Charter, aligning it with IIA Standards.
  • This position requires a proactive approach to identifying issues, recommending corrective actions, and establishing performance standards for the department.

Responsibilities

  • Internal Control & Audit Planning: The role is responsible for the full audit cycle, including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
  • Lending Business Audits: Take the lead in auditing the entire lending lifecycle. This includes reviewing loan origination, credit underwriting, disbursement processes, loan repayments, and loan recoveries.
  • Methodology & Controls: Develop testing methodologies to evaluate the adequacy of controls. Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion and cost-saving measures.
  • Third-Party and Regulatory Risk: Minimize third-party risk by assessing business partners and suppliers for risk.
  • Daily & Weekly Call overs: Conduct daily and weekly call overs and report findings to management.
  • Revenue Assurance: Implement a robust revenue assurance program to ensure all income streams, especially from lending activities, are accurately captured and reported.
  • Accounts Review: Review management accounts and the CBN monthly report before they are submitted. Prepare a detailed report on findings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other discipline from a reputable University; Post graduate degree an added advantage
  • 8-10 years of experience in Risk/Control functions in the Financial Services Industry.
  • Relevant professional qualification such as ICAN/ACCA/CIS/CFA/ACA/ACAMS. Must be CIBN MCP certified.
  • Experience in a Microfinance bank setting in related role is an added advantage.
  • Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations.
  • Must have previous experience of reporting to a Board/Board Committee.

2.) Head of Finance

Job Location: Lagos
Job type: Full-time

Description

  • The main purpose of this position is to assist in the delivery of company wide accounting, finance, treasury management, budgeting, performance analysis, payroll and financial reporting function.
  • The individual will proactively identify issues, opportunities and solutions to ensure effective budgeting, assists in strategic planning and forecasting, financial performance and sustainability while ensuring the accurate capturing and timely reporting of all financial activities.

Responsibilities

  • Take leadership in financial matters, including budget development, planning & reporting; managing the accounts, payroll, liquidity management, investments and financial reporting of business performance.
  • To work as part of the Senior management team to contribute financial and operational expertise in the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies, practices, funding proposals and applications.
  • Improve operational systems, processes and policies - specifically, better provision of timely and accurate management reporting, information flow and management, business processes, performance management and organisational planning
  • Preparation of overall annual budget of the bank including the assumptions and the ratios, Treasury management and monitoring
  • Providing finance related advice for new product analysis covering accounting, billing, risk management and taxation.
  • Performing monthly budget review/variance analysis, stress testing/scenario analysis, monthly Trial Balance review and preparation of management accounts

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of financial experience, with at least 5 years in Senior level
  • Minimum of Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics
  • ICAN or ACCA Qualified
  • Management capacity spanning Accounting, Business Planning, Operations, Reporting and with excellent knowledge of banking Business.
  • Demonstrates excellent understanding of Fintech financials as well as advanced business finance and performance analysis

3.) Head, Enterprise Risk, Internal Control and Compliance

Job Location: Lagos
Job type: Full-time

Description

  • To ensure the Bank’s risks are properly monitored and managed.
  • The individual will also be responsible for the development and implementation of systems, policies and procedures aimed at mitigating identified risks, including devising strategies or programs in order to find an appropriate balance in all forms of credit and operational risks.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, designing, implementing, and managing the overall risk management process for the bank by developing the risk management framework, policies, processes, procedures, and reporting standards that define the bank’s risk strategy and appetite in line with its overall business objectives
  • Monitor the business development for emerging risks and recommend policies and procedures to improve the risk management process.
  • Facilitate the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, controlling, and reporting of the level of risks
  • Act as the champion of risk management for the Company and help improve the Management team's understanding of key risk identification, assessment, monitoring, reporting, and mitigation
  • Analysis and appraisal of Individual credit requests in accordance with approved policies and procedures to ensure that credit exposures are created subject to stipulated guidelines.
  • Review and analyse the delinquent portfolio to identify key causal factors, make recommendations, and track them to ensure adequate and timely closure
  • Develop appropriate Risk Management strategies/tools and disseminate appropriate risk management practices in line with developments in business products, changes in clients, markets/industry, laws, and regulations.

Requirements

  • B.Sc in Accounts, Finance, Economics, or related subjects
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role
  • Completion of the Microfinance Certification Program (MCP)
  • A Postgraduate Degree and/or professional qualification is an added advantage
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role at an MFB or a Financial institution
  • Awareness of emerging and innovative credit risk assessment, specifically social scoring, alternative credit scoring, and big data analytics tools.

N500,000 / Month.
