Ikore is an international development organization proffering innovative solutions to drive sustainable social and enterprise development. Working in economically deprived places and vulnerable communities torn apart by instability across Nigeria and providing solutions that support inefficient markets and communities is implementing an agricultural mechanization service intervention aimed at enhancing access of smallholder farmers to affordable and sustainable mechanization services in Nigeria.


The project aims to create work opportunities for mechanization service providers, tractor operators, and others in the mechanization value chain. The project’s primary target is young men and women in peri-urban and rural communities, providing bundled mechanization services. Ultimately, the project focuses on capacity-building, affordable last-mile services, financial inclusion, technology integration, and policy enhancement.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Database Developer (Tractrac)

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Contract

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Database Developer (Tractrac) will be responsible for managing, examining, cleaning, and manipulating existing databases for all platforms.
  • They will also provide support to other team members by supplying relevant data when required assisting in developing data policies and overseeing data security.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer existing databases across various platforms.
  • Regularly examine and assess the integrity, performance, and security of databases.
  • Identify and rectify data quality issues, such as duplicates, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement data cleansing strategies.
  • Provide support to team members by generating and delivering relevant data sets as requested.
  • Identify and implement necessary improvements to optimize database performance and ensure data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
  • Develop and execute scripts or queries to manipulate and clean existing data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and provide data-driven solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of data policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Oversee and maintain data security measures to protect sensitive information.
  • Implement data access controls and regularly monitor data usage to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Stay up to date with data security trends and regulations to ensure adherence to relevant policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and manipulating databases across multiple platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and database query optimization.
  • Familiarity with database management systems such as Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.
  • Relevant certifications in database management or related areas (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) are a plus.
  • Experience with data manipulation, cleansing, and transformation techniques.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles.
