Job Description


  • We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Datacenter Administrator to fill the role of a Data Centre Migration Associate, to join our team and provide essential support to our Data Centre Migration Specialist.
  • You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of data centre migration projects.

Responsibilities
Migration Project Support:

  • Assist the Data centre Migration Specialist in the planning, coordination, and execution of data centre migration projects.
  • Collaborate with the specialist to assess current data centre infrastructure and identify dependencies, potential risks, and optimization opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of migration plans, including creating project documentation, updating inventory records, and managing equipment logistics.

Hardware and Equipment Management:

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and deployment of servers, networking devices, and storage systems as part of the migration process.
  • Coordinate hardware maintenance, including scheduling maintenance activities, tracking equipment warranties, and managing inventory levels.
  • Ensure proper labelling, documentation, and organization of equipment within the data centre facility.

Data Validation and Migration: 

  • Support the specialist in data validation and verification activities to ensure the integrity and accuracy of migrated data.
  • Assist in executing data migration tasks, including data replication, verification, and testing procedures. 
  • Collaborate with the specialist to resolve any data migration issues and ensure the timely completion of migration activities.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: 

  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues related to data centre infrastructure, network connectivity, and server configurations.
  • Work closely with the Data centre Migration Specialist to identify and resolve issues or escalations during migration projects.
  • Document and report any encountered issues or challenges, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of data centre operations, including inventory records, equipment configurations, and migration procedures.
  • Contribute to the creation of project reports and status updates, providing regular updates on project progress, milestones, and key performance metrics.
  • Assist in the development of post-migration assessments, capturing lessons learned and recommendations for process enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Solid understanding of data centre infrastructure components, including servers, networking equipment, and storage systems.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines.
  • Basic knowledge of data centre operations, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with data migration concepts and processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Associate level certifications on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud platforms will be an added advantage.
