Job Description

  • The Director General works with faculty deans, colleagues and leaders across the university and the vice-chancellor to pursue and carry out visions and missions of the school, providing academic and intellectual leadership to the institute.

Responsibilities


  • Develop and oversee all academic, research and related programs for the school.
  • Attract and retain a steady pool of good human capital made up of high-quality teaching and students that will be critical to the success of the school.
  • Lead discussions that direct the development of the school and continuing improvement of its graduate educational training, research programs etc.
  • Attract grants from donor agencies, parties, and other funding to support existing funding with the aim of achieving financial independence from the seed capital funding within two years of establishment.
  • The Director General will strongly partner with dean of faculties and the vice chancellor of the university to build and strengthen the institutes commitment to the highest level of graduate studies and programs with merit, equity and diversify at its core.
  • Work with and report to the board in implementing strong governance, functional and effective organogram to quickly achieve and sustain the school’s aspiration.
  • Generate regular reports about the school performance subject to set target by the governing council.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in academia with 5 years’ experience as a dean of faculty.
  • Knowledgeable in administrative policies and human resources.
  • A Ph.D in Political Science or Public Admin or Sociology.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, deans of faculty and vice-chancellor.
  • Ability to partner effectively with global institutions to build a diverse and inclusive institute.
  • Proven ability in organizational management, risk management, budget creation and allocation.
  • Resourceful with entrepreneur and financial skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and work ethics.
  • Strong operational orientation.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of research methods; data analytics software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
