Rensource is a leading West African provider of renewable energy-related services, it specializes in the development and financing of solar-hybrid captive power provision which provides commercial, industrial, and utility customers, solutions that bridge the gap between desired and available power. Rensource deploys any combination of solar power and fossil-fired power, primarily gas and diesel but also including natural gas with appropriate battery storage solutions.

Job Position: Engineering Associate

About the role


  • As an Engineering Associate, you will support our solar energy projects from conception to completion.
  • Joining the engineering team, you will contribute to designing, developing, and implementing solar energy systems. 
  • This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise in renewable energy.

What you'll do

  • Assist in designing and laying out solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) arrays, inverters, mounting structures, and electrical components.
  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate solar potential, shading analysis, and other factors affecting system performance.
  • Prepare documentation and technical reports required for permit applications and regulatory approvals.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop comprehensive project plans and specifications.
  • Conduct technical feasibility studies for proposed solar projects, considering site conditions, regulatory requirements, and financial considerations.
  • Support procurement activities by assisting in sourcing equipment and materials.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of solar energy modelling software (e.g., PVsyst,) and CAD tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience in solar energy project development, design, or installation preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and understanding of relevant codes and standards. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
