We design, build and operate the lowest cost hybrid (solar and biomass) power plant and distribution network in India and Africa. To date, Husk has provided electricity to over 15,000 homes and business, reducing 95,000 tonnes of CO2. Our aim is to provide 30MW of power to 225,000 customers by 2025, and save 350,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Field Distribution Engineer

Job Location: Lafia, Nasarawa
Job type: Full time
Division / Function:  Projects and Installation
Reports to: Project Manager

Role Summary

  • We are seeking a Field Distribution Engineer to join the Project and Installation team in Nigeria. This individual will play an integral role in executing and monitoring transmission and distribution networks across HMG locations. This individual should also have in-depth knowledge of power distribution network systems.
  • The individual should also be passionate about contributing to solving one of Nigeria’s most critical challenges – energy access deficit. This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team that is changing the face of rural electrification in many countries in Asia and Africa, including India, Nigeria etc.

Key Responsibilities
General:

  • Play a support role to site leads as a member of the Project and Installation Team for all electrical installations.
  • Support in driving “Best Practices” across the business. Once a “Best Practice” has been identified, ensure that the practice is visible nationally and to another subsidiary.
  • Understand the priorities of the country operations and support the Country Team when necessary
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Electrical Power Distribution Installations:

  • Supervise the ad-hoc staff or contractors in the installation of the power transmission and distribution network.
  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients, equipment suppliers, surveyors, and construction personnel.
  • Responsible for standard distribution network for all projects to meet NEMSA and REA standards.
  • Provide engineering support to operations and maintenance of power distribution systems.
  • Propose cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high efficiency of electrical transmission and distribution systems.
  • Analyse power distribution failures and suggest appropriate resolutions.
  • Work with the Project manager in planning and executing assigned electrical distribution projects within deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications
Does this sound like you?

  • HND in Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of experience within the Nigerian Electricity sector with exposure in the Power distribution sector.
  • Knowledge of overhead and underground construction methods and distribution system equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Capable of devising new, more efficient approaches to solving problems and processes.
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work.
  • Operationally focused; detailed oriented but able to grasp the big picture.
  • Experience conducting distribution field inspections.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

2.) Collections Specialist

Role Summary

  • We are seeking a Collections Specialist to join the growing team in Nigeria. We are looking for a competent Collection Specialist to contact clients and collect outstanding payments.
  • You will strike a balance between maintaining trustful relationships, and ensuring timely payments.
  • You will be the key person owning the recollection portfolio and deliver on targets of on-time and accurate collections.
  • The Collection Specialist will work with the EED business to ensure that repayments are done in a timely manner. Our Collection Specialist should exhibit professionalism and trustworthiness.
  • You should have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as an ability to work independently. This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team that is changing the face of rural electrification in many countries in Asia and Africa, including India, Tanzania, Nigeria etc.

Key Responsibilities
General:

  • Repayments and Collections Management
  • Monitoring accounts to identify overdue payments
  • Proactively notifying customers ahead of their due payment date
  • Sharing weekly and monthly collections report with the Head of EED business
  • Finding and contacting debtors to arrange debt payoffs
  • Keeping accurate records and reporting on collection activity
  • Notifying customers whose payments are due.
  • Collections Management and AdministrationDesign and implement SOP to maximise collections
  • Maintain and continuously update customer data on outstanding, overdue and delinquent accounts
  • Work with sales, CRM and accounts to maintain multi-touch approach to collection
  • Design and implement incentive campaigns and other strategies to improve collections
  • Take ownership of the collection’s agents
  • Update account status records and collection efforts
  • Report on collection activity and accounts receivable status
  • Monitor accounts to identify outstanding debts
  • Investigate historical data for each debt
  • Find and contact clients to ask about their overdue payments
  • Take actions to encourage timely debt payments
  • Implement communication channels such as automated SMSs and phone calls to improve collection
  • Ensure Husk’s customer first principles are followed while dealing with customers

Qualifications
Does this sound like you?

  • Graduate from a leading institution with a related Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences. Post-graduate degree and/or related professional qualifications from relevant bodies; a plus.
  • 2 years plus experience in collections and credit management preferably in the field of Renewable Energy (Solar/ Biomass)
  • Experience renewable energy and managing customer relationship
  • Lead by example and offer support/co-ordination to company workflow.
  • Operationally focused; detailed oriented but able to grasp big picture
  • Excellent skills with MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint
  • Business level fluency in major Nigerian languages, a plus

3.) GIS Analyst

Reports to: Assistant Manager, GIS, and Site Acquisition

Role Summary

  • We are seeking a GIS Analyst to join the growing team in Nigeria. The overall objective of this role is to significantly reduce in pre-investment costs associated with mini-grid site identification by deploying software, GIS, and remote sensing-based methods in order to create optimal pipelines of sites/villages suitable for the implementation of minigrids using. A uniform/consistent analysis approach will be developed, implemented and where possible automated. This will ensure that the generated sites meet the minimum site selection criteria.

Key Responsibilities
General:

  • Support all GIS/site scoping related activities across Nigeria (and other potential markets).
  • Understand the priorities of the country operations and support the Country team when necessary.
  • Regularly interact with various internal and external stakeholders for site identification/selection activities.
  • Support the optimization of various Husk NG activities to ensure best practices are entrenched towards more efficient processes.
  • Provide requisite support and inputs on building and aligning various company processes and policies according to global best practices.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Site Identification and Deployment:

  • Support in defining the site selection criteria for HMG locations with inputs from the relevant team members.
  • Support work planning and the implementation of all GIS/site identification tasks.
  • Support the preparation of country-level geospatial analysis and GIS modelling strategy and implement this in order to develop pipelines of viable communities/locations.
  • Support the building of load profiles using collated data to feed into the system sizing activities.
  • Utilize data visualization/analysis tools including customized dashboards for site mapping.
  • Support relevant teams in deploying mobile data collection apps for use during field surveys and enumeration activities.
  • Support the management of survey data collection and the application of relevant data sets for site scoping activities.
  • Coordinate location-based analytics with innovative spatial intelligence, business intelligence, and statistical and predictive analytics tools to create unique analytical solutions and insights that support both strategic and operational decision-making.

Business Growth and Support:

  • Ensure support for other Business Units for alignment with GIS/site selection/land survey tasks.
  • Work with relevant Business Units to ensure relevant land lease documents, building permits, other land documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Coordinate, maintain regular communication, and develop positive and productive relationships with various stakeholders, regulatory stakeholders, customer/client groups etc.
  • Support business growth and continuous cost & quality improvements in the business.
  • Support in the preparation of proposals, technical inputs, bill of materials, budgets, and technical drawings for the submission of such proposals.
  • Support communication channels for engagements with all relevant stakeholders during site selection/land survey and other related processes

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a leading institution with a related Degree in GIS / Surveying and other related subjects. Postgraduate degree and/or related professional qualifications, a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience and 2 years of experience in a similar role within the energy/infrastructure/development sector.
  • This position requires an in-depth understanding of GIS/Survey capabilities, critical thinking, and the ability to provide time-bound solutions to the benefit of the company.
  • Excellent skills with QGIS or ArcGIS, Google Earth, Microsoft Office tools and project management tools (MS Project, Power BI, etc)
