We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) People Partnering Director

Job Location: Remote

Role Overview


  • We are seeking a driven, hands-on, Head of People Partnering to lead the development and execution of the company’s People strategy, focusing on building a high-performance culture, fostering employee engagement, and ensuring a seamless people management experience across the organization.
  • This role will play a crucial part in onboarding, developing, and retaining top talent to support our growth and maintain the company’s reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of the role include:

  • (People Strategy and Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive People strategy aligned with Hugo’s business objectives; Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the People team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals; Drive a culture of inclusion and equity throughout the company; Connect People and business objectives, and ensure pragmatic implementation of People roadmap.
  • Relationship facilitator: Support and facilitate a well engaged, performance-driven and relationship-centric partnership between managers and workforce through routines and distinct vertical specific initiatives. This includes stay conversations, weekly check-ins with Vertical Leaders/Managers, skip-level meetings with workforce & focus group discussions on a regular basis.
  • Employee Relations and Compliance: Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, resolving conflicts, and ensuring fair and consistent practices; Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations; Implement People policies and procedures in line with industry best practices and in compliance with Hugo’s clients requirements; Provide feedback to Leadership on employee experience, success stories and pain points to feed into Learning & Development, reporting or systems enhancements, where required.
  • Talent Management: Lead performance management processes and succession planning initiatives; Oversee action plan based on employee life cycle and feedback, in line with vertical-specific projects. 
  • Employee Engagement and Development: Work closely with the Community Engagement Lead to create and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, job satisfaction, and well-being; Develop and manage training and development programs to upskill employees and support career growth; Foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Data Analytics and Reporting: Utilize People metrics and analytics to drive data-driven decision-making and identify areas for improvement; Develop reports in partnership with the People Analytics team to demonstrate the workforce’s state of health. Regularly report on People KPIs and provide insights to senior leadership; Define quarterly & interim action plan based on People Analytics review of vertical-specific initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years in progressively responsible People leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of People best practices, labor laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in PeopleIS systems and data analytics tools.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage the needs of multiple stakeholders, and to deliver People solutions within timeline in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional leadership skills, coupled with strong organizational and problem solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Perfect written and oral communications skills.

2.) Finance Business Partner

Job Location: Remote

Role Overview

  • We are looking for an exceptionally qualified/ part qualified accountant to join the finance team.
  • He/She would be responsible for mainly the AR processes and payroll function but would have the opportunity to rotate through the other finance arms for an all rounded experience.
  • He /She would be responsible for the day to day AR function, monthly payroll process as well as interfacing with other non-finance stakeholders across various departments. The role entails but is not limited to providing accurate, detailed analysis and commentary for reporting purposes, ownership of various AR control accounts and expense heads.
  • The job holder will undertake a wide range of Finance tasks within the financial management value chain and act as the main point of contact for finance related issues.

Key Responsabilities
Manage Payroll / Receivables Operations:

  • Act as change agent to spearhead innovative ideas that will improve finance processes and ensure efficiencies
  • Preparing payroll inputs and outputs as well as staff benefit
  • Preparation, processing and timely filing of all statutory returns with all relevant tax regulators e.g. VAT, WHT , NSITF , ITF , PAYE , CIT
  • Assist in preparation of budget and forecasts as well as monitoring actual performance against target
  • Be up to date with all relevant laws and regulations on Nigerian Taxation
  • Continuously improve processes, systems and ways of working to drive overall efficiency in all areas
  • Preparing and monitor Intercompany reconciliation and statements issuance
  • Control accounts reconciliation
  • Preparation and processing of customer invoices
  • Processing of accounting journals, payment voucher and receipt voucher
  • Processing/ posting of all financial transactions to ensure timely closing of ledger and control accounts
  • Provide ad-hoc support to Finance Manager as required (i.e. special projects)
  • Maintain best practice and standards in accounting processing.

Qualifications

  • Part qualified / qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working in an accounts team/function.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of MS Excel or Google Sheets
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Workspace, Slack etc or Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes; Outlook, Word, Powerpoint
  • Demonstrable evidence of interpreting & manipulating data clearly and accurately with the ability to extract & clearly articulate key points.
  • Confidentiality and absolute discretion always expected

3.) Head of Talent

Job Location: Lagos

Role Overview

  • We are seeking a highly-structured, hands-on, Head of Talent to support the executive team in building a top-tier talent attraction and employer branding strategy on par with global standards.
  • This role will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing the end to end talent acquisition strategy to ensure that we have the right leadership team to scale our remote workforce across Africa, and position Hugo as an employer of choice.
  • This role directly reports into the CEO, and works closely with key stakeholders such as the Chief of Staff, COO and in tandem with the Head of People.

Key Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of the role include Talent Acquisition, Employer Branding, Global Compensation Management & Thought Leadership:
Talent Acquisition:

  • Design a sourcing and onboarding strategy that keeps a steady stream of world-class talent (across a range of roles/functions) coming through our doors, and staying for the long-term.
  • Establish Hugo as an employer of choice for seasoned professionals looking to do practical, high-impact work on the continent
  • Partner with the Leadership team & Head of People to ensure that we develop and customize hiring briefs tailored to job description and candidate profile
  • Deep-dive on candidate experience insights as part of the wider employee experience journey
  • Develop competency frameworks and customized hiring methodologies, on par with global best practice 
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, leveraging relevant networks & events such as job fairs, conferences and external events to advocate for Hugo as an employer brand
  • Implement a robust candidate management system, that supports tracking for continuous improvement
  • Measure quality of hire/candidate journey experience through dashboards and processes (such as first 90 days plans/ stay interviews) to ensure seamless conversion from candidate to employee
  • Foster long-term relationships with past applicants and prospective candidates. 

Employer Branding:

  • Partner with the leadership team/Head of People to define Hugo’s Employer Value proposition 
  • Develop a Employer Branding roadmap that encompasses the right mix of relevant recruitment channels & PR to ensure premium talent attraction
  • Continuously seek opportunities and review/update our roadmap to strengthen Hugo’s Employer Value Proposition (EVP) 
  • Conceptualize communication campaigns on par with Talent Acquisition priorities to ensure optimal engagement via social media and online/offline channels
  • Partner closely with the Marketing and Internal Communications teams to ensure highest quality content standards
  • Monitor & measure the effectiveness of our talent marketing campaigns to ensure continuous improvement

Compensation & Benefit Management:

  • Review & assess global compensation & benefits trends periodically to affirm Hugo’s competitive position as an employer of choice
  • Recommend and develop the right total compensation benchmarks on par global hiring practices, including ESOP composition by specific role/job family 

Thought Leadership:

  • Partner closely with the leadership team & Head of People to continuously elevate our employee experience journey, on par with our business objectives
  • Support the Head of People on conceptualizing and rolling out core People processes such as Performance Management, Talent Development, Employee Experience and Succession Planning 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in or progressive experience in People/Talent Acquisition  
  • A large professional network across the EMEA region. 
  • Strong business acumen, sales and negotiation skills. 
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and leadership skills. 
  • Perfect written and oral communications skills. 
  • Expertise in full cycle recruiting and employer branding techniques. 
  • Experience recruiting executive and/or international candidates. 
  • Sound understanding of the responsibilities of different roles within an organization. 
  • Fluency in French is preferred, but not required.
