Reports to: Area Operations Director

Position Overview


  • As an Operations Steering Support (OPSS) Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting strategic and operational planning through insights into business performance, cost development, and forecasting.
  • You will drive financial transparency, performance manage operational and cost KPIs, ensure data integrity and quality, and provide a single source of truth on cost and KPI reporting.
  • The role is pivotal in enabling leadership to make data-driven decisions for the Area.
  • You will work closely with Regional OPSS, Area Operations, Finance, and QSC colleagues to ensure performance is effectively planned, monitored, and continuously improved.
  • Disclaimer: This role does not expand the scope of responsibilities but enhances the value and consistency of existing tasks performed within OPSS.

Key Responsibilities
Performance Management & Insights:

  • Forecast key P&L elements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Translate business targets into operational KPIs per country/cluster.
  • Calculate and analyze performance gaps against Budget, Plan, and Savings targets; follow up on corrective actions with stakeholders.
  • Provide forward-looking, data-driven analytics with actionable recommendations.
  • Deliver insights on cost developments and proactively address unasked questions.
  • Support rollout of an Operating System for performance management in Area and Region.

Cost Transparency & Control:

  • Support cost modeling and forecasting in collaboration with QSC and Controlling.
  • Maintain terminal-level cost sheets to improve cost visibility and data accuracy.
  • Monitor operational indicators influencing costs and drive unit cost performance.
  • Collaborate on cost-saving initiatives, accrual accuracy, and cost categorization consistency.

Data Management & Reporting:

  • Serve as a data steward, ensuring accuracy and quality of unit cost and KPI reporting.
  • Partner with QSCs and Regional OPSS for a unified “one set of numbers” approach.
  • Contribute to a standardized KPI repository linked to the budget process.
  • Manage TRACO updates and explain deviations on unit cost.
  • Drive best practices and continuous improvement mindset across the Area.

Planning & Budget Support:

  • Provide input during forecasting and budgeting cycles, challenging and validating assumptions.
  • Support tracking of cost and operational performance against budget.
  • Assist Area leadership with scenario analysis and strategic planning initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Execution Support:

  • Act as a source of energy within the team, fostering engagement and improvement.
  • Liaise between Area, QSC, and Regional OPSS to ensure priority implementation.
  • Partner with procurement and operations on savings plans and KPI alignment.
  • Participate in regional workshops, training sessions, and best-practice sharing.

Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in planning, financial analysis, cost control, or operational reporting.
  • Proven OPSS-style experience in data-heavy financial planning, performance steering, and cost forecasting.
  • Prior experience in regional or global roles (not just country-level) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Power BI, and advanced Excel-based reporting.
