Storekeeper / Inventory Officer

We are seeking a disciplined, detail-oriented Storekeeper / Inventory Officer to manage materials, tools, and supplies across our construction sites and real estate developments. The ideal candidate will ensure proper receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of construction materials while maintaining accurate records, minimizing losses, and supporting smooth project execution.

Core Responsibilities

Receiving & Inspection

Receive construction materials, tools, and equipment delivered to site or store.

Verify quantities and specifications against purchase orders and delivery notes.

Inspect materials for damage, defects, or shortages and report discrepancies promptly.
 


Inventory Control

  • Maintain accurate stock records for building materials, fittings, and consumables.
  • Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with store records or inventory systems.
  • Track material usage across projects to prevent pilferage and wastage.
     

Storage & Organization

  • Properly label, stack, and organize construction materials to ensure easy access and safe handling.
     
  • Ensure proper storage conditions for cement, tiles, fittings, electrical and plumbing materials.
     
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free store/warehouse environment.
     

Issuance & Site Dispatch

  • Issue materials strictly based on approved requisitions from site engineers or project managers.
     
  • Document all material issuance and returns accurately.
     
  • Coordinate timely dispatch of materials to construction sites as required.
     

Stock Optimization & Cost Control

  • Monitor inventory levels to identify low stock, reorder points, and excess or slow-moving materials.
     
  • Support proactive procurement planning to avoid project delays due to material shortages.
     
  • Assist management with material usage reports and cost monitoring.
     
  • Record Keeping & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate manual and digital records of all stock movements.
  • Update inventory systems or spreadsheets for receipts, issues, transfers, and balances.
  • Prepare periodic inventory and materials reports for management review.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Apply FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety rules, storage standards, and material handling procedures.
  • Support audits and inspections related to materials and inventory control.
     

Key Requirements & Skills

Education & Experience

  • BSc./HND in Supply Chain Management, Estate Management, Accounting, or Business Administration is an advantage.
     
  • Proven experience as a storekeeper or inventory officer in construction, real estate, or engineering projects is highly preferred.
     

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic inventory tracking tools.
  • Experience with ERP or inventory management software is an added advantage.
  • Strong numerical and record-keeping skills with high attention to detail.

Physical & Personal Attributes

  • Ability to work on construction sites and handle physical materials safely.
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and accountability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project timelines.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with site engineers, supervisors, and contractors.
