Job Description

  • The Technical Project Manager is ideally an engineer or other technically educated professional conversant in solar PV technologies and market conditions with knowledge of electrical power systems, such that in this client facing role, the Technical Project Manager is able to guide technical discussions and make recommendations
  • Reporting directly to the Head of Technical Delivery, you will manage and lead the project team to achieve actionable results and position Arnergy as a leading brand in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • As a Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for providing project planning and management of our solar power and storage systems; ensuring that projects are completed to specification, within an established time frame and budget.
  • Develop project implementation plans and constant support during project execution
  • Manage a wide project reporting database with much focus on accuracy and realtime reporting.
  • Manage the delivery of solar projects for clients and ensure they are delivered on time and on budget and to a high level of quality
  • Develop and maintain project timeline, identify critical path and key milestones for project’s success
  • Identify the sources of likely problems and proactively take preventive measures to avoid any potential project risks, and determine response actions to mitigate any negative impact.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction on every unit of project delivered
  • Manage contract negotiations, change orders, and other agreements with subcontractors and vendors, and oversee all subcontractors’ work in all phases
  • Guide technical discussions & make recommendations
  • Manage assignments including contract management and scope of services
  • Communicating, coordinating and corresponding with clients for all project related matters, acting as primary point of contact on behalf of Arnergy
  • Lead and manage multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Provide leadership to project staff including implementation of project engineer training and development
  • Coordination of internal and external resources where needed, deliverable review & acceptance, budget & time adherence, client liaison, and internal reporting on Solar PV projects
  • Lead and provide technical input for OE services during construction (management of contractors, design review, programme monitoring, etc)
  • Working with project quality assurance and customer operations team to define and support the requirements for successful project commissioning and acceptance
  • Supporting the development of commercial proposals by providing material and quantity-related information to the commercial and finance teams for price modeling
  • Support supply chain with technical procurement and planning of material delivery to site
  • Provide technical inputs to feasibility studied, FEED, tender preparation and negotiations
  • Provide technical inputs to commercial agreements and contracts to ensure Project risks are mitigated
  • Manage and hold project budget, delivery and programme responsibility for individual projects ensuring they are delivered on time and budget
  • Assist with professional excellence activities across subject areas
  • Do everything else assigned by the Line Manager

Requirements
You’ll be a good fit for this role if you have:

  • PMP Certification.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies and methods
  • Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
  • You currently lead projects deployments, run root cause analysis and provide technical project-based solutions in a telco, energy or utility sector. You lead from the front.
  • You get things done, you are an execution expert with relevant certifications.
  • You have a background in Computer / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience. You are an engineer at heart and in practice.
  • You are proactive, and on point. You are excellence personified.
  • You have hands-on experience with electricity.
  • You are on top of your game, Ideally you are a sector thought leader.
  • You have a sound commercial acumen, with a data drive approach to decision making - an experience with P&L is really desirable.
  • Numbers make you smile, you love it.
  • You have deployed, supported or managed projects scaling over 20,000 customers/service nodes.
  • You are hard as nails - you don’t take no for an answer, You are also very empathetic to understand people need time to adapt.
  • Customers love you, you are really good with people, you work well with people - you are the life of the party.
  • You would rate yourself a minimum of 7 in any of the following tools (Ms Project/Asana/Basecamp/Jira/Excel).
