Description


  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, installation, calibration, adjustment and integration of various types of plant instrumentation equipment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all work order maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of plant equipment as directed.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, test, maintain, repair, clean and calibrate instrumentation and solid-state and microprocessor-based control equipment including plant communications equipment, programmable controllers, distributive control systems, generator excitation equipment, battery chargers, and semi-conductor devices.
  • Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, transmitters, etc. as needed.
  • Install control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment.
  • Use a wide range of test equipment, including recorders, computers, control and tuning modules, PC based software analyzer programs, oscilloscopes, data analyzers, logic test equipment, analogue and digital multi-meters, meggers and other test equipment, while performing tests to identify problems and to maintain and calibrate equipment to performance standards.
  • Make regular inspection rounds of plant instrumentation, and control equipment.
  • Assist in developing detailed preventive and predictive maintenance procedures for plant instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Install, build, or modify plant instrument, and control equipment as directed by the Instrumentation Engineer or Section Head.
  • Troubleshooting, repair, and minor programming of various PLC control systems, frequency drives and other electrical equipment.
  • Participate in plant safety, health and environmental programs and observe safety in accordance with government and company standards.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Section Head from time to time.

Requirements

  • Ordinary National Diploma or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Trade Test with Minimum of (8) years relevant work experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of phase testers, multimeters, meggers and other testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Very good organisational skills.
  • Good interpersonal, networking and teaming skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of office productivity tools

Job Position: Mechanical Rigger

  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
  • Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
  • Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc)

  • Perform a variety of tasks pertaining to the installation, maintenance, repair and service of mechanical equipment, instruments and structures used within the plant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair duties for the plant.
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and service facilities, machinery and equipment and perform or make recommendations regarding maintenance and repair activities.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance checks and servicing on equipment by implementing maintenance schedules.
  • Perform corrective mechanical maintenance by troubleshooting the cause of malfunctions using visual inspection and precision measuring and testing instruments and replacing or repairing broken parts.
  • Rebuild equipment as needed; disassemble and clean items; order replacement parts and repair mechanical malfunctions; reassemble and test items.
  • Work with engineers as needed in order to complete assignments; provide input as requested regarding the design, installation and maintenance of systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics; provide input and recommend changes on design blueprints as requested.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools used in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Prepare reports, forms, correspondence and related documentation regarding assigned operations in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
  • Adhere to safety orders and comply with established regulations in all aspects of work.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Engineers from time to time.

Requirements
Education and Work Experience:

  • ND or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Zero (0) to four (4) years work experience.

  • Good knowledge of methods and techniques of implementing a preventive and predictive maintenance program.
