 Mkobo Microfinance Bank Limited is a fully licensed Microfinance bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Lagos, Nigeria. MKOBO was conceived to help solve consumers’ need for access to short-term emergency credit. Our goal is to provide access to short-term unsecured loans, which is easily accessible. We cater to the demography currently undeserved by the Commercial banks in our aim to help increase the financial inclusion of the Nigerian population.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Head, Internal Audit and Compliance

Job Location: Yaba, Lagos

Description


  • The purpose of this role is to direct a comprehensive program of internal audit to ensure that internal control systems are effective and reliable.
  • The role focuses on the integrity of financial, operational, and information technology systems.
  • The Head of Internal Audit is also responsible for developing, updating, and executing the Internal Audit Charter, aligning it with IIA Standards.
  • This position requires a proactive approach to identifying issues, recommending corrective actions, and establishing performance standards for the department.

Responsibilities

  • Internal Control & Audit Planning: The role is responsible for the full audit cycle, including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
  • Lending Business Audits: Take the lead in auditing the entire lending lifecycle. This includes reviewing loan origination, credit underwriting, disbursement processes, loan repayments, and loan recoveries.
  • Methodology & Controls: Develop testing methodologies to evaluate the adequacy of controls. Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion and cost-saving measures.
  • Third-Party and Regulatory Risk: Minimize third-party risk by assessing business partners and suppliers for risk.
  • Daily & Weekly Call overs: Conduct daily and weekly call overs and report findings to management.
  • Revenue Assurance: Implement a robust revenue assurance program to ensure all income streams, especially from lending activities, are accurately captured and reported.
  • Accounts Review: Review management accounts and the CBN monthly report before they are submitted. Prepare a detailed report on findings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other discipline from a reputable University; Post graduate degree an added advantage
  • 8-10 years of experience in Risk/Control functions in the Financial Services Industry.
  • Relevant professional qualification such as ICAN/ACCA/CIS/CFA/ACA/ACAMS. Must be CIBN MCP certified.
  • Experience in a Microfinance bank setting in related role is an added advantage.
  • Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations.
  • Must have previous experience of reporting to a Board/Board Committee.

2.) Sales and Business Development Officer

Job Location: Lagos
Job Type: Full-time

Description

  • This role involves prospecting for new clients, understanding their financial needs, and offering tailored banking solutions.
  • The Officer is responsible for driving the growth of the bank's customer base and revenue by identifying new business opportunities, building relationships, and promoting financial products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales and business development strategies aligned with Mkobo's overall growth objectives.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of Sales & Business Development Officers
  • Identify and secure strategic partnerships to expand Mkobo's customer base for EWA and Mkobo for Business products.
  • Develop sales funnels and processes to optimize lead generation and conversion.
  • Generate qualified leads.
  • Manage existing partnerships and drive increased utilization of Mkobo's products among partner's employees.

Requirements

  • BA / BS Degree in Marketing, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a reputable university.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience in sales and/or business development.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and achieving revenue growth objectives.
  • Knowledge of Fintech and financial services industry and strong understanding of sales methodologies and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.

3.) Deposit Collection Officer

Job Location: Lagos
Job Type: Full-time

Description

  • To grow the bank’s deposit base by sourcing, mobilizing, and maintaining low-cost deposits from both new and existing customers, while ensuring operational integrity, transparency, and compliance with internal control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, engage, and onboard potential customers for savings and crossing selling of the bank other savings products e.g fixed deposit, target savings etc.
  • Mobilize daily, weekly, and monthly deposits through field activities, marketing drives, and relationship management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure retention and increased wallet share.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all mobilized deposits (passbooks, collection sheets, ID copies, etc.).
  • Submit daily and weekly collection reports showing customer details, deposit type, and transaction mode (cash/transfer).
  • Participate in weekly field audits and performance review meetings.
  • Meet or exceed assigned daily, weekly, and monthly deposit targets.

Requirements

  • Minimum S.S.C.E
  • 1 year of previous work experience in similar role.
